The Furore surrounding Edinson Cavani’s relationship with team-mate Neymar may have died down but it sounds like all is not well between the pair.

The Uruguayan fell out with summer signing Neymar on the pitch when they argued over who should take a penalty against Lyon.

World transfer record Neymar later apologised to his new colleagues and publicly made up with Cavani on the pitch.

But if fans thought the two were now friends they are set to be disappointed.

In an interview with French radio, Cavani has suggested he was not interested in being friends with Brazilian.

“The penalty case, that’s in the past,” Cavani told SFR Sport. “These are things that happen in football.

“We must find the solution together and function as a team. We need to be a competitive team, but we do not need to be friends. You have to be professional, and afterwards everyone has their own life.

On whether he has been removed from penalty duty, the striker responded: “This is up to the coach to decide. What is best for the team?

“I think the person in charge will find the solution. When he makes the decision, it will be like that.

“Did he make his decision? I don’t think so.”
