The Delta State Police Command has arrested four of its personnel captured in a viral video counting bundles of cash inside a patrol vehicle.

The Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, confirmed the development in a terse statement on Tuesday.

“The policemen in the embarrassing video have been identified and arrested. They appeared before the Commissioner of Police today,” Edafe said.

He disclosed that while the two senior officers involved have been queried, the two inspectors have been detained and are awaiting an orderly room trial.

The video, which showed the officers seated in a patrol van counting wads of money, sparked widespread outrage from members of the public who accused the policemen of extortion.

Edafe had earlier assured that the Command would not hesitate to take appropriate disciplinary action against the erring officers.
