The Niger/Kogi Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reported the confiscation of vehicles and contraband, totaling over N194 million in duty paid value, during December 2023.
Comptroller Busayo Kadejo disclosed these developments in Minna, the capital of Niger State, during a press briefing on Wednesday.
Kadejo highlighted the command’s recovery of over N20 million from demand notices in the same period. Notable among the seized items were eight units of exotic cars and 875 liters of premium motor spirit (PMS), which were promptly auctioned due to their inflammable nature.
Providing an overview of the year 2023, the Comptroller stated that the command executed sixty-five seizures, amounting to a cumulative duty paid value exceeding N260 million.
He credited these successes to the strategic deployment of intelligence and the dedication of officers.
Despite these achievements, Kadejo issued a stern warning to smugglers, emphasising the unwavering stance of the command in enforcing the Federal Government’s border closure.
Regardless of their positions, he asserted that smugglers would face consequences, reaffirming the commitment to curbing illegal activities.
