WHO condemns attacks on health facilities, workers in Sabha, Libya

Following the reports from Sabha Medical Center about the recent abduction of one of its doctors, the World Health Organization, WHO has strongly condemned the hijacking of medical kits and other attacks on medical and sanitation workers. 

According to the organization, “We consider all forms of verbal, physical or threatening violence to be immoral and illegal, which hinder and disrupt the provision of health services and delivery to those in need.

“Attacks on health facilities and medical personnel also have a negative impact on the delivery of health care and deprive civilians in need of access to health services”.

WHO, however urged everyone to refrain from attacking medical personnel and sanitation, as required by international humanitarian law, calling upon the parties responsible for the abduction of the doctor in order to ensure his safety and immediate release.
