Channels TV reacts to DSS’s reported arrest of its anchors

Contrary to the news on social media that its Sunrise Daily’s anchors have been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS), the management of Channels Television has dismissed the report, clarifying that no such arrest was made.

Channels Television, in statement published on its online news website, however informed that the entire anchors were invited for a meeting by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in Abuja and they have since returned from that meeting.

In a related development, the Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday , also clarified that Channels Television’s invited by the secret service in earlier stories on social media are false and misleading.

DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, made the clarification via a statement, warning purveyors of such to stop.

“The attention of the DSS has been drawn to news making the rounds in some sections of the media that its operatives earlier today (26th August, 2021) arrested two (2) journalists of Channels Television. This is false and misleading. Fake news peddlers should shun the act,” the statement said
