The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reported the arrest of a 40-year-old ‘businessman,’ Sherif Egbo, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, stated in a release on Sunday that a body scanner uncovered the presence of illicit drugs within Egbo’s stomach.

The suspect was apprehended on October 14 as he tried to board an Air France flight to Paris, France, after anti-narcotics agents detected the ingestion of illicit drugs.

“He was subsequently placed under observation in the agency’s exhibit recovery room, where he excreted 93 pellets of heroin weighing 2.222 kilogrammes.

In his statement, the suspect claimed he works at a chicken hatchery farm in Madrid, Spain, and is involved in the drug trafficking business,” said the NDLEA spokesman.
