Former President Muhammadu Buhari has asserted that security and the economy in Nigeria saw significant improvement during his eight-year tenure.
Buhari made this claim on Wednesday while receiving members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) at his country home in Daura, Katsina State.
Reflecting on his time in office, Buhari recalled that before his administration took over in 2015, the country was plagued by severe economic and security challenges. However, he insisted that his government successfully curbed the menace of terrorism and economic instability through strategic policies.
“The revolving security and economic strategies initiated and implemented by my government successfully tackled the economic and security woes we inherited from our predecessors,” the former president stated.
Buhari further remarked that only those in government fully understand the complexities of national administration, emphasizing that leaders constantly face hurdles in executing policies and programs.
“Security and the economy improved significantly in Nigeria under my administration compared to what we met in 2015. Things will continue to improve in Nigeria,” he insisted.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Katsina State, Alhaji Yusuf Jargaba, expressed gratitude to Buhari for his efforts in addressing terrorism, banditry, and other security challenges during his tenure.
“Your hard work, dedication, and selfless service to humanity were responsible for maintaining the country’s unity, ensuring that Nigeria remains indivisible,” Jargaba stated.
