Two commercial motorcyclists, commonly known as Okada riders, have been killed in separate incidents in the Akoko area of northern Ondo State by suspected armed robbers.
In one case, 28-year-old Dada Jatto was found dead in Arigidi Akoko, located in the Akoko North West Local Government area.
His mutilated corpse was discovered near the Arigidi community along Okeagbe Road, three days after he was reported missing. Jatto’s motorcycle remains unaccounted for.
In another incident, another Okada rider was lured to a location between Ikare and Arigidi Akoko.
The victim was attacked, his head smashed by the robbers, who then stole his motorcycle.
Residents reported that the injured motorcyclist was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died. His motorcycle was later recovered in Akunu Akoko, a town near the Kogi State boundary.
The Spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, SP ‘Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incidents.
She stated that the police have launched an investigation with the aim of apprehending those responsible for the killings.
