As a build-up to the delegates convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) billed for 30th May 2023 draws nearer, the leading presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu continues to consolidate on his frontrunner momentum as he is not leaving anything to chance. Despite the overwhelming support of the major stakeholders of the party that he is enjoying, Tinubu hasn’t appeared that he intends to slow down from the marathon presidential race.
The former governor of Lagos State and National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken his campaign to several states in Nigeria robustly engaging stakeholders, gatekeepers, and members of the APC at every level. He continues to meet and mobilise party major stakeholders, delegates, and members, towards securing the ticket and winning the general election.
Very recently, Tinubu was in Kano, Taraba, Adamawa, Kastina states, and now Yobe to meet with the party delegates, canvass for their support, and fraternize with them ahead of the scheduled primaries.
Interestingly, a higher number delegates’ votes come from the Northern States. Meanwhile, the former governor of Lagos state has continued to enjoy huge support in those states as his antecedents and past relationship with the people and their leaders, especially the level of strategic support and network mobilised by him in ensuring the emergence of APC as a party and President Muhammadu Buhari from 2014, is opening many doors for him and brightening his chances.
Given the ground to be covered, a foremost support group for Tinubu – the Southwest Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA’23 ) has commenced vigorous consultation as well as mobilising delegates from the South, starting from the South West to ensure that no one is taken for granted and no stone is left unturned.
The group led by former Minister of Works, Sen. Dayo Adeyeye, in a statement, on Tuesday, informed that it is extending its support at this time to these critical stakeholders to ensure that the goal of Tinubu becoming Nigeria’s president in 2023 is achieved.
He said, “here is a man that some said is too old for the job and some meddlesome interlopers have adjudged as “sick” moving into every nooks and cranny of the country to seek support while those touted as fit are becoming clay-footed. Experience, knowledge, and determination are the key factors to getting things done and Asiwaju has them all.
“The race is becoming interesting every day”, Adeyeye added.
SWAGA, however, noted that it remains unshaken, expressing confidence that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu would win the presidential ticket of the APC.
