Antonio Conte called for the introduction of VAR after Chelsea were denied a point at Old Trafford.
Alvaro Morata saw his late strike ruled out against Manchester United, with television replays unable to show exactly if the linesman’s decision was correct.
Jesse Lingard’s strike minutes earlier secured the 2-1 victory for United, after Willian’s early goal was cancelled out by Romelu Lukaku.
Speaking immediately after the full-time whistle, Conte admitted that he had not seen a replay.
But he claimed that if there was doubt over the decision, it only reinforces his opinion that England needs to bring in a video review system.
Conte told Sky Sports: “I must be honest I haven’t seen the situation.
“I repeat, I think VAR is very important, especially here in England, because during the game there are a lot of situations that are important to have another check.
“There are a lot of moments in the game where there are things to super-check.”
Whether the decision was right or wrong, Conte has claimed that he believes Chelsea have to do better after taking the lead.
“We must be disappointed. We can do better,” he said.
“We had to be more clinical, instead we kept the game open, and the opponent made us pay. Manchester United are a great team, and we must be disappointed because I repeat today, we could have done better.
“We know there is a battle [for the top four] and it will be difficult to find a place in the Champions League.”
