Anthony Joshua escapes death as crash claims two on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

World-renowned heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a road accident on Monday at Makun, in the Sagamu area of Ogun State.

The accident occurred along the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, causing panic among motorists and leading to a temporary disruption of traffic flow.

Eyewitnesses said the crash happened near Danco Filling Station in Makun, before the Sagamu Interchange, on the inward Ibadan axis, when the vehicle conveying the boxer reportedly collided with a stationary truck.

The vehicle, a Lexus SUV with registration number KRD 850 HN, was said to be travelling at the time of the crash under circumstances that are still being investigated by authorities.

An eyewitness, Adeniyi Orojo, confirmed that two people died on the spot as a result of the collision.

Orojo added that Joshua sustained minor injuries in the incident and was promptly attended to by emergency responders who arrived at the scene shortly after the crash.

News of the incident sparked widespread reactions on social media, with fans and well-wishers flooding various platforms with messages of concern and prayers for the boxing star.

Meanwhile, security agencies and emergency responders have commenced investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident, as traffic was temporarily disrupted in the area, while there was no official statement from Joshua or his management team as of the time of filing this report.
