THE expectation of the Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu to have a robust discussion with former governor of Oyo state, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala on political issues and other matters was dashed during visitation of the minister to the home of the former governor on Sunday.
Shittu and his entourage who visited Opadoyin lodge of Alao Akala in Ogbomoso shortly after they left Methodist Church where they were honoured was received into Akala’s house by some of his aides including Alhaji Wasiu Olukan, Alhaji Abdulrasaq and others, but the ex-governor refused to attend to him.
According to an inside source, the minister who was enthusiastic to meet with the ex-governor was told that his host was sleeping. While Shittu was waiting, the ex-governor reportedly instructed his aides not to wake him up for any reason.
Though the minister and his entourage waited for about 30 minutes but later left after realizing that their host may not show up anytime soon. It was however gathered that few minutes after Shittu left, the former governor, Alao Akala attended to some undisclosed guests.
It would be recalled that both Barrister Shittu and Otunba Alao Akala have been political rivals since 2007 shortly after they both departed from the government of Senator Rashidi Ladoja where Akala was the deputy governor and Shittu was a commissioner.
Mega Icon Magazine checks revealed that Shittu who entered Ogbomoso on Saturday evening held meetings with stakeholders at four of the local governments in the geo political zone.
