Former Minister, Niger Delta Affairs Ministry, and All Progressives’Congress (APC) candidate for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, Senator Godswill Akpabio, today prayed  for the continued peace, progress and unity of Nigeria, saying, ” since our amalgamation in 1914, we have survived only through the mercies and grace of God.”

According to his 62nd Anniversary message, he personally signed, the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State prays,  “Oh God of creation, It pleased You to unite the Northern and Southern protectorates of the colonial era  in 1914 to form this Nation called Nigeria.

“In 1960, you rewarded the efforts and yearnings of our past leaders by granting us Independence from the shackles of colonialism. Since then, we have survived only through Your mercies and grace.

“As we mark today our 62nd Independence Anniversary may Your mercies abound in all the multi faceted areas of our National life-Replace despair with hope, insecurity with peace, disunity with togetherness and love.

“Cleanse the minds of our leaders to abhor corruption, nepotism and tribal bigotry. Have mercy on our economic travails and let there be a turn -around that will create employment opportunities for our youths whilst rekindling the pride of Nationhood in our Armed Forces.

“Above all,  help us to bequeath a nation of Justice, Prosperity Love and Tranquility to future Generations, Amen”
