Akesan fire: Oyo minority leader, Alarape commiserates with victims, charges Makinde to equip fire service stations

The Minority leader, Oyo State House Of Assembly, Hon. Asimiyu ‘Niran Alarape on Saturday commiserated with traders at the Akesan Market, Oyo over the fire incident that gutted the market, describing the inferno as unfortunate.

 

The inferno which ravaged the market destroyed goods worth millions of naira.

 

Alarape, who is representing Atiba State Constituency also  charged the Governor Seyi Makinde -led administration to equip all fire service stations in the state so as  to avert future occurrence, adding that recent experience has exposed the incapability of the fire service.

 

The former speaker in a statement signed on Sunday further submitted, “It is tragic that the traditional market Akesan has been consumed by a conflagration aided by harmattan haze. It is my prayer that Allah will console those who lost their properties and also charge the government in the State to equip all fire service stations in the State to avert future occurrence since recent experience has exposed the incapability of the fire service.

“May the soul of those who lost their lives in the process rest in peace”.

The lawmaker, however urged the state Commissioner of Police to investigate the reported killings of some protesters.
