OYO state governor, Abiola Ajimobi is currently holding a closed door meeting with members of the State House of Assembly led by its Speaker, Hon. Michael Adeyemo at the Governor’s Office, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.
The meeting, which started around 12:00pm may not be unconnected with the perceived conflict over the inauguration of two rejected chairmanship nominees and the substitution of a confirmed nominee with another person, without the consent of the legislative body.
Governor Ajimobi was alleged to have inaugurated Mr. Mudasiru Agbaje (Irepo Local Government Area) and Mr. Taiwo Adeleke (Asabari Local Council Development Area- LCDA) who were found to be ‘unfit’ and rejected by the House of Assembly.
Also, Mr. Abiodun Oladeji, instead of Akeem Aransi who was screened by the House to chair Lagelu West LCDA.
However, the House has directed the Committee on Ethics and Privileges to summon the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olalekan Alli, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mrs Hannah Ogunesan, and others for questioning.
The committee is expected to submit its findings and recommendation within two weeks.
According to sources, the committee led by Hon. Muideen Olagunju of Oyo East/Oyo West State Constituency will present its report this week as the House resumes plenary.
With this development, political watchers in the state have started forming opinions.
