Adelabu commissions CBN medical centre in Ibadan

THE Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN) has reaffirmed its commitment to reshape the economy of the country.

CBN Deputy Governor Operations, Chief Adebayo Adelabu stated this on Friday, at the commissioning of the CBN Diagnostic and Treatment Centre, Onireke Ibadan.

The CBN Deputy Governor who spoke on behalf of Mr Godwin Emefiele, the CBN Governor, said the management of Apex Bank in Nigeria has done a lot in its effort at repositioning the economy of the country.

Chief Adelabu explained that, the current executive of CBN met foreign exchange, especially Dollars at 165 naira per dollar and later rise to 525 naira.

He added that, for the 14 months one dollar at market exchange rate has remained 360 naira.

According to him, Foreign-exchange reserves, which was  as low as 24 billion Dollars; now 148 billion Dollars.

Speaking on the motive behind the establishment of CBN Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Centre in Ibadan, the CBN Deputy Governor Operations said the medical centre is established to provide quality medical services to the staff of CBN.

“In line with the Bank’s policy to run clinical services for the Bank’s staff and to alleviate the difficulties faced by staff in receiving prompt and quality medical services, the management approved the construction of four diagnostic and treatment centres in Abuja and in the South west (Ibadan),South East (Enugu) and North west (Kano) regions of the country”, he said.

Also, Chief Adelabu stressed that there is plan to extend to the remaining regions namely, South South, North Central and North East respectively in the nearest future to serve all the Branches in each of the regions.

The CBN Medical Diagnostic and Treatment centre Project involved the construction of a single storey building to operate a 24hours modern diagnostic and health management.

The hospital also has 27 bed facility with functional areas which housed , Private Wards , Male, Female and Children’s wards, Ultrasound room and ECG room, Eye and Dental Clinics, Laboratories, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy Room, Delivery suite and a Mini theatre, Laundry, a water treatment plant and 200kva generator among others.

Chief Adebayo Adelabu who personally supervised and facilitate the project cited in his home town by the CBN management urged the staff of Ibadan Branch and neighboring branches to make use of the medical centre and derive the full benefits for which the project was intended.

The Agbaakin Parakoyi of Ibadan land, also promised to use his position to facilitate more meaningful projects to Ibadan and Oyo state as a whole.

The Programme had in attendance, the chief medical director, university college hospital,Ibadan, UCH, Professor Temitope Alonge and top CBN officials in South west of Nigeria.
