Over 211 million Pounds, belonging to late Nigerian Head of State, General Sani Abacha, have been seized from a Jersey bank account.

The late General Abacha who served as Military Head of State from 1993 till his death in 1998, allegedly laundered money through the US into the Channel Islands.

The money, as learnt had been lodged in accounts held in British Virgin Islands Company by Doraville Properties Corporation, according to a British tabloid, Metro on Tuesday.

It also hinted that the money is now being held by the government until authorities in Jersey, the US and Nigeria come to an agreement on how it should be distributed.

It would be recalled that In 2014, the islands Attorney General at the request of the US authorities, applied for, and was granted a restraining order from the royal court over the Jersey bank account Balance of Doraville.
