8 states arrive Ibadan for maiden MASM’s U-17 Female Soccer Tournament

NOT less than 8 states have arrived Ilaji Stadium and Resorts Center, Akanran, in Ona ara Local Government Area, the venue of an all female soccer competition tagged ‘MASM U-17 Soccer Tournament’ scheduled to begin on Sunday, July 1st.

According to the report gathered by our correspondent, few of the states namely Rivers and Kaduna State have arrived the venue since late Friday night.

While speaking to our reporter, the Coaches of the two states disclosed that, their plans were to arrive earlier but for the challenges encountered while traveling to the venue.

They unanimously affirmed their intentions not to make up the numbers but to win the ultimate prize which is the trophy.

Meanwhile, the organisers of the tournament began the screening exercise for the players of each participating team.

As at the time of filing this report, six teams were screened and their officials accredited.

While revealing his happiness about the state of readiness and State-of-the-art facilities sighted at Ilaji Stadium and Resorts Center, the venue and host of the competition, Mr. Patrick Ukoji, one of the officials from the participating States, River State, lauded the organisers, Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Oyo State Chapter, and Engr. Dotun Sanusi, the Chairman of Ilaji Stadium and Resorts Center, for organising the competition of this magnitude without relying on government for financial supports.

He praised Engr. Sanusi for what he described as his large-heartedness, adding what he put on ground at the venue as well as the community for the purpose of all and sundry is legendary and, thus, deserve huge commendations.

He, however, pleaded with the organisers of the tournament to make the next one a national competition.

Also,some of the states that have arrived the venue as at the time of filling in this report are; Oyo, Kwara, Ekiti, Edo, Rivers, Kaduna, Osun and Delta States.

According to the media officer of the multi-billion naira sporting and entertainment outfit, Mr. Hazeez Ayansola, the remaining states would have arrived before the competition resumes on Sunday afternoon.

It will be recalled that the female soccer tournament is being organised in remembrance of the tenth year anniversary of the demise of the mother of the Chairman of Ilaji Stadium and Resorts Center, Madam Muslimat Agbeke Sanusi, Engr. Dotun Sanusi.
