He said that the decampees have taken the right step to have joining the party at the ward level, adding that the constitution of the PDP empowers the ward executives to receive new members into the party, quoting part 2 sub section 4 (a) and (b) of the PDP’s constitution to butress his submission.

Among the decampees was a prominent farmer from Aagba in Oko, Surulere local government area, Otunba Olusola Agbebi who led other farmers from Ajemonleke, Bolorunduro, Onisa, Onejenke, Idi-isin, Olokemeji, Ondusi, Olorunda, Ade-oba, Elejigbo, Aba Alamu, Ilelofa, Olomifunfun, Aladin, Lekewogbe, Aba otun, Sunmaje, Akinleje, Araromi and Aba amula to the party.

Agbebi who has never held any political office before, said that he was not interested in contesting election, adding that his good gesture has helped him to bring together people from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and Action Democratic Party (ADP) to join Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He added that he was impresed with the way the Governor of the State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has been handling the affairs of the party and his commitment to good governance and development of the State since assumption of office.

Otunba Agbebi further commended the efforts of former house of representatives member Hon. Folaranmi Banji whom he described as honest and sincere person, stressing that his style of leader has endeared him to show interest in politics.

Also speaking in the same vein, a stalwart of African Democratic Party (ADP) who led other defectors to join the PDP in Ogo Oluwa local government, Chief Alamu Aberuagba told leaders of his new party to consider themselves lucky to have them in their midst, stressing that their defection has put an end to opposition parties in the said local government.
