At 36: Peter Crouch signs a year new Stoke contract

PETER CROUCH has signed a new Stoke contract at the age of 36.

The former England international, who scored 22 times in 42 appearances, would have become a free agent at the end of the current season.

But Crouch will now stay at Stoke until the summer of 2019 after being handed a one-year extension by Mark Hughes.

Crouch has three goals for Stoke in the Premier League this season.

And his 58 goals in 212 appearances across all competitions means his deal represents good value for the Potters.

A Stoke statement on Twitter confirmed: #SCFC are delighted to announce that @petercrouch has signed a one-year contract extension, committing the talismanic striker to the club until at least the summer of 2019.”

Crouch has certainly enjoyed a lengthy career, starting at Tottenham before moving to QPR after loans with Dulwich Hamlet and IFK Hassleholm.

Crouch really made his name at Portsmouth in the 2001/02 season, scoring 18 league goals, before securing a move to Aston Villa.

A loan spell at Norwich opened the door to Southampton, before Liverpool made use of his services for three years.

Crouch then returned for a second spell at Portsmouth before staying with Spurs for two seasons, paving the way for a £10m move to Stoke in 2011.
