Stakeholders and members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis of Concerned Progressive Forum (CPF) Ibadan Southwest Constituency 1 have insisted that there was no State House of Assembly primary election in the local government area of Oyo State.
The APC group added that the election ended in a stalemate as manipulations were discovered.
It would be recalled that the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries for Governorship and State Assembly seats were expected to be conducted yesterday (Thursday ) across the states.
However, the stakeholders maintained that the State assembly primary election did not hold in Ibadan Southwest Constituency I, lamenting that the process was against the dictates of the national leadership of the APC.
CPF accused the Senator Teslim Folarin’s faction led by former Commissioner for Environment, Barrister Lowo Obisesan who was seen during the exercise hijacking the processes by going into their hideouts without the prior notification and presence of other aspirants, delegates, and party officials to perpetrate electoral fraud, calling on the leadership of APC to intervene.
While describing the process as an illegal, “fraudulent sham that cannot stand, and should be disregarded”, the APC stakeholders in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Azeez Olawale urged the national leadership of the party to re-schedule the primary election, stressing that the whole process was characterised by violence, thus it was null and void.
The statement read, “The action of Teslim Folarin’s group led by Lowo Obisesan was totally against the dictates of the national leadership of our dear party. To our bewilderment, they were conducting the process in their hideouts without the delegates, other aspirants, and party officials. Although the process was disrupted by hoodlums and it was declared inconclusive by INEC, however, this action is condemnable and we want to advise these undemocratic elements to stop dragging the good name of our party in the murky waters of desperate politicking.
‘As core progressives, our understanding of democracy is not the one in which an individual or group of individuals must force their wills on the people, but the one that allows the majority of party members to decide who represents them”, it continued.
Meanwhile a video footage obtained by Mega Icon Magazine revealed that pandemonium ensued during the exercise as suspected members of the party and delegates discovered that Ibarapa East Local Government delegates’ list was used to accredit supposed delegates in Ibadan Southwest Constituency 1.
This, has contained in the video led to the disruption of the primary election allegedly organised by the Senator Teslim Folarin’s faction of the All Progressives Congress (ApC) in Oyo state.
The stakeholders urged party faithful and aspirants to stay focused and wait for the party’s directives on the said primary elections.
