The House of Representatives ambition of Engr Aderemi Oseni for 2023 received a major boost last Friday as residents of Ido Local Government Area of Oyo state threw their weight behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ibarapa East/Ido federal constituency.
They gave this assurance when the Oyo APC Youth and Students Directorate in partnership with Engr Oseni, was in the council area for a special bike rally. The residents, who voluntarily joined the rally, also expressed confidence that Oseni will emerge victorious in the election billed for February 25.
Vehicular and human traffic was brought to a standstill for hours as the party nominee for Ibarapa East /Ido federal constituency, Engr Oseni, the state APC Youth leader, Mr John Aremu, the secretary for the Directorate, Comrade Adegbola Oluwaseun and the Deputy Director (Oyo North), Mr Ponle Omidiji led the youths in a peaceful and well-coordinated bike rally.
The APC Youth and Students’ Directorate promised to rescue Oyo State from what they described as Governor Seyi Makinde’s recklessness.
The special bike rally started from WAEC Junction Ijokodo from where it moved to Apete, Awotan, Agbaje, Ologuneru, BCJA and other areas within the Ido Local Government.
Earlier before the take-off of the ‘carnival-like rally’, the APC state Youth leader, John Aremu informed that the bike rally was just a test of acceptance for the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
He said the Seyi Makinde -led PDP government can longer be trusted for adequate defence and protection of public interest, saying “we have to make way for a serious government come May 29 this year”.
Aremu urged the residents of Oyo state to endure the last few days of the “inept Makinde’s administration”, assuring them that succour is in the offing.
Also speaking, the secretary for the Directorate, Comrade Adegbola Oluwaseun, said the All Progressives Congress is the single biggest political party in Oyo state, noting that with the apparent failure of Makinde’s government, it is only a matter of time before the people communicate their rejection via the ballots.
Adegbola further described the present administration as a cosmetic, elitist and anti-poor government built on deceit and propaganda to protect personal interests.
“It is unthinkable that a Government at this dispensation will prioritize building garages over the welfare and common good of her people. Ido/Ibarapa East is a haven for the APC and with Remi Oseni, the future is good for the constituency.
“You cannot leave a virtuous man and run after a vain one. Remi Oseni, a candidate of our party has outshone the 8 years already by the PDP candidate”, he added.
He, therefore, encouraged the constituents not to despair as hope has finally arrived in Oseni.
In his remarks, the Deputy Director (Oyo North), Ponle Omidiji noted that the well-attended bike arcade demonstrated APC’s high acceptability level and hugely improved public rating.
He said the reception was so high that a lot of bystanders and voluntary riders had to join the movement.
“Activities were shut in Ido; Apete, Awotan and Ologuneru in particular for the duration of the rally. It was a huge stimulus for us”.
He hinted that in the coming days, the Directorate will also be going to other Federal legislative districts to replicate this rally before the Presidential and National Assembly election.
“We will roll out a calendar of activities as soon as practicable. We are poised to go stronger until victory is assured”, he said.
