The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North West Local Government Area of Oyo state, on Tuesday, officially received a number of prominent members who left the party prior to the 2019 general election to form Unity Forum.
The party, also received defectors from other political parties into its fold with a vow to unseat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023.
Among those officially welcomed back into the party is a former party Chairman of Ibadan North West Local Government, Alhaji Remi Sodiq, Pastor Wale Adepoju and Hon. (Mrs) Sakirat Adewoyin, former Chairman of the said local government. All the personalities joined the APC with thousands of their supporters.
At the reception of the defectors at the party’s local government meeting held at Ebenezer Anglican Church Primary School, Salvation Army, Ibadan, Certificate of Service to Local Government were presented to some members for participating in the just concluded APC membership Registration/Revalidation exercise of the party as Local Supervisors and Ward Polling Unit Clerks. They are Prince Olujide Adegunju, Funmi Adejumo and Omowumi Adeyemi and others.
In his welcome address, the party Chairman, Alhaji Jelili Asukuna commended members of the party for trooping out en masse to participate in the membership Registration/Revalidation exercise, stressing that the local government came 5th in the overall performance of all the 33 local government areas in the State with a total membership registration of 16,447.
He welcomed the defectors with an assurance that with the reunion of old members with the party, they are going to achieve a common goal of winning the next general election in Oyo State.
