Dr. Olusola Ayandele, on Wednesday, officially declared interest to contest for the Oyo South Senatorial seat, just as he inaugurated ERUOBODO 2023 SUPPORT GROUP, to project his visionary idea.
The APC chieftain assured that he would pursue special status for Ibadan if given the mandate. He insisted that Ibadan deserved special status, saying such would form part of the projects he intend to pursue at the upper chamber.
Ayandele, who hails from Ibarapa was a governorship aspirant of APC in the 2019 general election in the state.
His words, “One of those things I intend to discuss at the upper chamber when given the opportunity is a special status for Ibadan.
“Ibadan serve the whole of western region with several of them on their own now. Some policies must be put in place and all must change for the better,” the businessman added.
Speaking further, Ayandele noted that the Senatorial district constituted 63 percent of the voting capacity in Oyo State, adding that “I contested the APC governorship ticket in 2019 and despite the fact that I am from Ibarapa, I was one of those three shortlisted out of the 33 local governments.
“That was 33 local governments and now I’m contesting the Senatorial seat in just nine local governments,” he said.
The Senatorial hopeful disclosed that his unique advantage was that he is the only aspirant who already has four out of the nine local governments.
Also commenting, Chief Ademola Ojo, an APC Chietain, informed that the committee inaugurated was to consult and galvanise delegates for Ayandele ahead of party primaries.
Ojo stressed that members of the committee were drawn from across the nine local governments and tendencies in the party.
He described Ayandele as capable and qualified aspirant, who brandishes intimidating profile among all.
Similarly, Hon. Kehinde Olaosebikan, a former Chairman, Oluyole Local Government and friend to the aspirant, pledged his total support to his ambition.
“We were both APC governorship aspirants in 2018 and I found him a worthy person. A strong bridge builder,” he said.
Olaosebikan assured that Ayandele’s victory would come like that of late Chief MKO Abiola, who won elections irrespective of where he came from.
The event had in attendance several other party chieftains from across the nine local governments that made up Oyo South Senatorial District.
