It was a major event as the ancient city of Akure, the Ondo state capital on Tuesday stood still when youths across the state staged a solidarity walk in honour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima
Tagged ‘SWAGA’23 Youths solidarity walk in support of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu And Kashim Shettima’, the walk, according to the organiser is to sensitize the voters and garner support for the APC candidates ahead of the 2023 elections.
The youths, who trooped out in large numbers under the aegis of the Southwest Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA’23) Youth Wing, adorned with customized T-shirts, face caps, Ankara and other paraphernalia singing and dancing around the state capital walked 10 kilometres from Oba Adeshida Road to the main Market and other areas within Akure and its environs.
Addressing newsmen, the National Chairman of SWAGA’23, Senator Dayo Adeyeye thanked the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu for granting the group permission to stage the walk, appreciating the people of the state for their support over the years.
Adeyeye, however, urged Nigerians to continue to have confidence in the duo of Tinubu and Shettima as the campaigns and general elections are fast approaching.
Also commenting, the National Secretary of SWAGA 23, Hon. Bosun Oladele noted that the programme is a walk and not a campaign, saying “INEC is yet to lift the ban on campaign so,’ what the youths are doing is just a sensitisation programme and not a campaign”.
The former deputy governor of Ondo state, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde; the State Chairman of SWAGA’23, Hon Oye Ojo, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, Hon. Julius Oloro, Hon. Rotimi Makinde, Hon. Gani Omoluka, Hon. Akeem Muniru, Hon. Moshood Bakare were also in attendance.
Others include Hon. Albert Akintoye, Hon. Eni Omosule, Hon. Mukaila Musa, Hon. Sunday Olajide, Alhaji Ibrahim Raji, Hon Akinniran Mrs. Adenike Aserere among others.
