CHAIRMAN, Publicity Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North West Local Government, Mr Toyese Oladejo has rubbished the insinuation by former Oyo State Governor and Candidate of the African Democratic Party (ADP), Otunba Adebayo Akala that the party intended to rig the next month general elections describing it as a ‘a morbid fear of an imminent electoral failure’.
Governor Akala had while fielding questions in a political programme in a local radio station in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital accused the APC of planning to rig the coming elections.
However, in a swift reaction to the allegation, the APC mouthpiece in Ibadan North West local government remarked that the pronouncement by Otunba Akala as ‘most unfortunate and a calculated attempt to ridicule the APC and cause crisis in the state.’
He stated that the party is carrying out its various campaign programes simultaneously across the state even as the ruling party in the state. He wondered why Otunba Akala should be spreading unfounded rumours and inciting the people against the party.
“Let me ask Otunba Akala that even his son, Olamiju and all his political sons whom he recommended as Chairmen of Local Governments and LCDAs are political infidels who are still in the APC are not popular in their domains and could not win elections except they rig”, he asked.
He, therefore, urged politicians and political leaders in the state to exercise restraints and avoid fanning the embers of discord in the state saying ” we should be careful in our utterances and deeds. Oyo State is our state and we should not allow emotions to rule over us”.
Oladejo further urged the general public and the electorate to disregard the insinuation, stressing that the APC in the State under Senator Abiola Ajimobi and Chief Akin Oke believe in a free, fair and transparent elections. He further charged the voters to vote massively for all its candidates and its Governorship Candidate, Chief Abdulwaheed Adebayo Adelabu whom he described as an “urbane , exposed, knowledgeable and pragmatic young mind ready to take our dear state to the zenith of its growth and developments in all sectors”.
