2019: APC remains party to beat, says Ayandele

In spite of the orchestrated defection of some members of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) to the opposition parties, a gubernatorial aspirant of the APC in Oyo State, Dr. Olusola Ayandele, has reiterated that the ruling party would record overwhelming victory in the 2019 general elections.

The APC has, in the last few weeks, lost a number of its members to other political parties in various states across the country largely due to irreconcilable differences among stakeholders as well as intrigues relating to the preparations for the next year’s polls.

Addressing APC leaders, extended executive committee members and party faithful at the venue of the joint general meeting of the Ibadan North local government area as well as Aare Latosa and Irepodun local council development areas on Thursday, Dr. Ayandele revealed that the noise generated by the defection news was unnecessary and over-exaggerated.

“The APC, rather than being depleted, is waxing stronger because what we might have lost in the population of some disloyal members who left recently on flimsy excuses are being gained from many more people who joined the party across all divide.

“At the appropriate time, the whole world would be made to see that the population of genuine APC members has increased tremendously nationwide much more than what we had in 2015 when we defeated the ruling PDP in about 25 out of the 36 states with the FCT, Abuja.

“This time, I am of the opinion that more states from the southern part of the country would go with the APC while our own Oyo State would still lead the pack with the highest number of votes. Succinctly put, with Gov. Abiola Ajimobi as the captain and a successful effort to throw up a competent governorship candidate to succeed him in office, there is no cause for alarm”, Ayandele assured.

On Thursday, the renowned industrialist, accompanied by a mammoth crowd of supporters and admirers, in continuation of his statewide consultation tour, visited APC (party) secretariats in Ibadan South West, Ibadan North East and Lagelu local government councils where they were received by all stakeholders including party chairmen, council chairmen, federal and state lawmakers among others.
