The family of Mr. and Mrs. Saul Hashimu, residents of Ungwan Maigero Community in the Chikun Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, are demanding justice over the death of their 13-year-old son, Wisdom, whose tragic demise was caused by alleged brutality by a soldier and members of the civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) in the area.
“The death of our beloved son, Wisdom, is a heartbreaking tragedy that must be thoroughly investigated,” said Mr. Hashimu, the grieving father of the deceased.
Wisdom, a 13-year-old boy who was writing his Junior Secondary School examination, was falsely accused of stealing N10,000 from a neighbor. This accusation led to severe beatings by a soldier and members of the civilian JTF.
Despite receiving medical attention after the brutal assault, Wisdom’s life took a tragic turn on Thursday, June 6th, 2024, when his lifeless body was discovered hanging on a noose at the back of their compound.
“We demand justice for Wisdom and accountability for those responsible for his untimely death,” Mrs. Hashimu, the grieving mother, emphasized.
The soldier allegedly involved in the incident has been identified as Segun Samson, a serving soldier at Bodi Camp in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. The family urges thorough investigation and appropriate action to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
