Tribunal Verdict: Tinubu’s victory, well deserved – Oseni

The lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Aderemi Oseni has felicitated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) affirming his victory in the February 25, 2023, poll.

Oseni, who is also the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), said Tinubu truly deserved the victory despite blackmail, propaganda, and wholesale “Pull-him down” (PhD) tactics embarked on by the opposition parties.

The 5-man Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) panel headed by Justice Haruna Tsammani had on Wednesday ruled that various petitions filed by the former vice president and the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, a former governor of Anambra state who was also the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) at the 2023 general election as well as that of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) lacked merit.

The judges, thereby, affirmed the APC presidential candidate, Tinubu, as validly elected and sworn-in as the President of Nigeria.

In his congratulatory message which was signed and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, on Thursday by his media aide, Idowu Ayodele, the lawmaker said the judgment of the Presidential Tribunal affirming Tinubu’s electoral victory has further demonstrated that his election was indeed a true reflection of the wishes of Nigerians.

The statement partly read, “Considering President Tinubu’s glaring acceptability and popularity across the country, I was not perturbed all along. I have always understood that any legal challenge to his electoral victory was just a mere academic exercise because Nigerians who trooped out overwhelmingly to freely give him the mandate have spoken clearly and resoundingly. We are now vindicated.

“No doubt, the judgment of the tribunal has affirmed the position of Nigerians who appreciate President Tinubu’s genuine commitment to his renewed hope agenda for a better Nigeria. Once again, I congratulate our leader, President Tinubu, and wish him God’s guidance in the challenging, but not insurmountable tasks, ahead.”

The APC chieftain further lauded the judiciary for dispensing justice without fear or favour.

In a related development, Oseni also congratulated the party’s national assembly members from Oyo state, who have had their electoral victory upheld by the various tribunals.
