Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise on Saturday, monitored by Mega Icon Magazine, Dati expressed worry that many people expect governors to grace weddings, funerals, and other ceremonies as a sign of accessibility or popularity, rather than assessing their delivery on governance and infrastructure.

“It is unfortunate that some citizens equate leadership effectiveness with how often a governor attends social gatherings,” Dati said. “This puts undue pressure on state executives and detracts from their focus on policy implementation and development.”

He noted that while governors face constant demands to appear at social functions, some have remained committed to addressing the harsh economic realities by prioritising essential projects and public welfare.

“Despite the distractions, a number of governors are staying on course, providing basic amenities and responding to the people’s needs amid the current hardship,” the former commissioner stated.

Dati urged the public to shift their expectations and support leaders who prioritise service delivery over social appearances.
