The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, has congratulated the Nigeria Police Force multi-dexterous Combat Athlete PC Juliet Ukah, following a successful Professional Training Tour fought and won against South Africa’s Crystal Van Wyk who until the bout was undefeated, in Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) 102.

His congratulatory message was contained in a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

The fight, which took place on Thursday 13th April 2023, in Johannesburg – South Africa, was a 3-Round bout and Juliet showed all-around superiority to emerge the winner by Unanimous Decision (30－26, 30－26, 30－27).

Juliet also went on to defeat Clodia Vochung Shivabo (IMBGIM FC) of Cameroun on Saturday 22nd April 2023.

PC Juliet is one of two Police Female MMA Fighters recently released by the IGP, for a 6-Week Professional Training Tour in Thailand.

Recruited into the Force in 2018, the talented Woman Constable has continued to show tremendous promise, broad skills, and passion for excellence over the years, conquering the Boxing, Kickboxing, and now MMA world of Nigeria and Africa.

With this latest feat, PC Juliet Ukah, who now has an unbeaten streak after 4 Professional Fights (4 wins – 0 losses – 0 draws), is the African EFC Champion and the No. 1 Contender for the World EFC Female Straw Weight Title Belt.

IGP Alkali Baba further congratulated the officer for the feat, acknowledging the contributions of the Nigeria Police Force to sports development in the country.

The IGP commended the officer for making the Nigeria Police Force, and by extension, the nation proud, promising to continually discover and showcase new talents in the Police.

Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

Adejobi said the posting is in line with “the IGP’s mandate and strategies to strengthen the operational structures of commands, departments, and formations”.

The IGP charged all the newly posted and redeployed officers to put their best foot forward in ensuring that the activities of their new Commands, Formations, and Departments align with the Police Reform mandate.

He also tasked them to ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), was suspended by the Police Service Commission on August 1.

The Force spokesman, Frank Mba, who disclosed this on Thursday explained that the report was submitted by the chairman of the Special Investigative Panel, DIG Joseph Egbunike, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The statement said, “the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has received the report of the NPF Special Investigation Panel (SIP) investigating the alleged indictment of the erstwhile Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), DCP Abba Kyari by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Presenting the report, DIG Egbunike thanked the IGP for the confidence reposed on him and the members of the Panel to conduct the probe.

He noted that the Panel commenced investigations immediately after it was inaugurated on 2nd August 2021 and the report submitted is an outcome of a painstaking, transparent and exhaustive investigative process.

He further revealed that the report presented contained the case file of the probe, evidence and findings as well as testimonies from DCP Abba Kyari and other persons and groups linked to the matter.

“The IGP, who commended the Panel for the work done, stated that the essence of the probe was to carry out discreet investigations into the allegation levied against the officer to enable the Force leadership to be appropriately guided in its decision-making processes.

“The IGP assured that a careful and expeditious review of the recommendations would be undertaken by the Force Management Team and thereafter forwarded to appropriate quarters for necessary action(s). He reiterated, as always, the commitment of the Force to justice for all.”

Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, has announced the immediate suspension of tinted vehicle windscreens in Nigeria.

The IGP, on Monday, during a meeting with senior police officers, including commissioners and DIGs from across the states, also reiterated that roadblocks remain prohibited in the country and warned that heads of commands must enforce it and key into the road patrol strategy as an alternative to roadblocks.

He directed that the issuance of spy number plates be put on hold.

This according to the IGP is part of efforts being put in place to curtail the worsening security challenges across the country.

Speaking further, the IGP disclosed that some of the high-profile suspects in police custody include members of IPOB, kidnappers, and bandits who have confessed to committing some of the most heinous crimes in recent times.

He stressed the need for the senior police officers to ensure discipline in their various commands.

Some of the successes recorded by the Police Force in the last two months include the arrest of over 600 suspects including persons believed to have carried out an attack on Governor Samuel Ortom earlier in March, this year.

The IGP’s meeting is the first of such he was confirmed as the Inspector General of Police.

The Police Council last week confirmed  Usman Alkali Baba as the substantive Inspector General of Police (IGP), almost two months after he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
