The lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Aderemi Oseni, has felicitated Muslims across the country on the commencement of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1447 AH.

Oseni, who chairs the House Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency, urged Muslim faithful to embrace the season as a time for reflection, renewal, and collective progress.

In a statement on Friday by his media aide, Idowu Ayodele, the All Progressives Congress chieftain described Hijrah as a significant milestone that symbolises sacrifice, faith, and the pursuit of a just and peaceful society.

“The migration of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) from Makkah to Madinah wasn’t just a physical journey — it was a turning point that reshaped the destiny of a community. As we enter Hijrah 1447, we’re reminded that meaningful change often requires courage, endurance, and trust in God,” the statement read.

He urged Nigerians to reflect on the values associated with the Islamic New Year, including perseverance, compassion, and unity, especially at a time when the country needed healing and purposeful leadership.

“At this critical moment in our national life, the lessons of Hijrah should inspire us to rise above ethnic, political, and religious divides. Let us walk together in peace and work together for progress,” he said.

While appreciating his constituents for their continued support, Oseni pledged to remain a servant-leader committed to the development of Ibarapa East/Ido, Oyo state, and the advancement of Nigeria.

He also called for prayers for peace in Nigeria, prosperity for Oyo State, and divine guidance for leaders at all levels.

“May this new Islamic year usher in peace, growth, and renewed hope for our people. I wish all Muslim brothers and sisters a spiritually fulfilling Hijrah 1447,” he added.
