NO fewer than 600,000 new Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) during the just-concluded Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) in Delta state were registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC’s Administrative Secretary in the state, Mrs Rose Orianrian-Anthony, made this known on Tuesday in Asaba.

Orianrian-Anthony noted that the commission achieved a lot by giving the electorate who had not registered before the opportunity to do so.

She said that this included those who recently relocated to the state from other states.

Orianrian-Anthony also hinted that those whose data were wrongly captured were corrected.

https://iso.keq.mybluehost.me/2018-inec-presents-voters-register-to-political-parties-in-osun/

She noted that registering for PVC during CVR was a civil responsibility that all Nigerians should cherish, adding that the CVR was worth the stress and the commission was duly committed to the exercise.

The Administrative Secretary further informed that the commission in the state distributed 36,647 old PVCs as at August 25 while 137,719 PVCs were yet to be collected.

She said that collection was a bit low in the state and that was why the commission kept sensitising the electorate to come forward for them.

Orianrian-Anthony also advised the disabled and women to be part of the registration.

https://iso.keq.mybluehost.me/no-pvc-no-sex-for-men-fela-durotoye-charges-nigerian-women/

She said that INEC would continue to do its best to ensure that the votes cast by voters during elections count.

Orianrian-Anthony said that the process would be accessible to all Nigerians irrespective of age, gender and religion.

She said that the field would be free and fair that nobody would be left out.

A human rights group under the aegis of Better Nigeria Association has strongly condemned the advert by The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on page 5 of Tribune , 9th August 2018, which called on innocent Nigerians to produce their Permanent Voters Card (PVCs) under the guise of joining the party.

Contained in a letter written to newsmen on Thursday, the human rights group accused the ADC of ulterior motives as they claimed to have gathered intelligence reports, that the plans of ADC leadership is to lure the unsuspecting electorate into the party under the guise of an empowerment program, during which their voters’ cards will be seized and they will pressured to vote for the party in the coming elections.

https://iso.keq.mybluehost.me/8394-2/

Better Nigeria Association also perceived this development as a violation of human rights, as nobody or party should be allowed to intimidate the electorate, under the promise of providing monetary benefits and food items.

https://iso.keq.mybluehost.me/ogun-guber-aspirant-accuses-amosun-of-persecuting-adp/

The group further advocated for the need to allow Nigerians the freewill to decide the leaders of the country, as that is the only way to ensure a better Nigeria. The letter also noted in part, that any plan by political parties to coerce or lure unsuspecting Nigerians to part with their PVC on any occasion would be met with stiff resistance by the group.

OUTSTANDING Nigerian singer, Banky W, has reacted to a recent comment by President Muhammadu Buhari which generated public outrage.

President Buhari had earlier criticised the attitude of some Nigerian youth, describing them as lazy, uneducated, and want free education, housing, healthcare among others.

He was quoted during a panel appearance with world leaders at the Commonwealth Business Forum held in London.

The President’s comment has attracted widespread criticisms from Nigerians. A former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Governor Ayo Fayose, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, and others condemning the comment.

However, in a recent post on Instagram, Thursday, Banky W expressed his thoughts, just as he urged Nigerian youths to get their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).

“So apparently, this is what our President thinks about ‘a lot of the Nigerian youth’. What do you guys think?”, the artist asked his fan.

“INEC will not count your tweets. Let’s turn the month of May into #PVCMay.

“The registration period will end LONG before the elections come, so if you think you can wait until next year, you are wrong”, he urged his audience.
