The group disclosed that activities would begin on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, with a courtesy visit to the Deji of Akure, ahead of a mega summit scheduled for Wednesday, April 8.

According to the organisers, the summit would attract prominent personalities from government, political circles, and stakeholders across the country.

Speaking in a statement, the National Secretary of the group, Barr. Bosun Oladele, said the initiative was designed to deepen public awareness of the policies and achievements of the current administration.

The statement said, “The summit marks the commencement of our sensitisation and mobilisation programme in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. It will provide a platform to highlight key achievements of the Federal Government and engage stakeholders on national development.”

It was gathered that three suspects armed with pump-action rifles and cutlasses invaded the facility after arriving in a black Toyota Venza, which they parked along the main road. The assailants reportedly scaled the perimeter fence to gain access to the premises.

During the attack, three health workers on duty were forcefully dispossessed of their personal belongings, including mobile phones and a Point of Sale terminal. The suspects subsequently whisked the victims away towards the Olokuta Correctional Centre axis along Ondo Road.

The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Saturday.

According to him, “Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects ordered them to remove their clothing and subsequently abandoned them in the bush before fleeing the scene. The victims, however, found resort from nearby staff of the Correctional Service.”

Jimoh disclosed that security patrols had been intensified, while collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups had been strengthened to enhance safety across the state.

He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding, adding that members of the public should promptly report suspicious activities or useful information to the nearest police station or other security agencies.

The police spokesman assured residents that the command remained committed to safeguarding lives and property and would not relent in efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Olusola Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Akure, the state capital.

According to him, the operation began at about 5:30am following a distress call that a couple, identified as Mr. David and his wife, residents of Akure, had been kidnapped in their farm hut located along the Ondo–Ekiti border at Odeigede Camp.

Ayanlade said, “Acting swiftly on the information, the Commissioner of Police immediately directed that all operational assets must and should be deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the victims.”

He explained that operatives from the Iju–Itaogbolu Division and the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad, in collaboration with vigilant youths in the area, advanced deep into the forest in pursuit of the hoodlums.

“As the pressure from the combined team intensified, the suspected kidnappers abandoned the victims,” the PPRO added.

He noted that the male victim sustained machete cuts but managed to flee with his wife before operatives rescued them.

Ayanlade said one suspect was later arrested in a hut, where several items were recovered.

Items recovered include a Samsung Note 10 mobile phone, a sword and a broken bottle.

“The suspect has since been cooperating with investigators and giving useful information, aiding ongoing efforts to apprehend the fleeing accomplice(s). All recovered exhibits have been handed over to SAKS for further investigation,” the statement added.

Two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, have been arrested by the police for allegedly conspiring to drug and rape a 20-year-old female undergraduate of the institution.

The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Olusola Ayanlade, announced this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Akure, the state capital.

According to him, preliminary investigations showed that the victim was invited to the residence of her long-time friend, 19-year-old Queen Sodo, also a student of the Ondo varsity.

“Trusting in the longevity of their friendship, which began in secondary school and continued into university, the victim accepted a drink provided by her friend, which was later found to have been laced with drugs, causing her to lose consciousness,” the statement read.

Ayanlade said once the victim became incapacitated, Sodo allegedly stepped out of the room, summoned her male co-conspirator and kept watch while the act was being carried out.

He added that a neighbour became suspicious after hearing unusual and inconsistent noises coming from the room and immediately raised the alarm.

“The victim was subsequently rescued by a neighbour who noticed the strange noise,” he stated. “She was found naked, unconscious and in a compromising position with the arrested male suspect, and was immediately taken for urgent medical attention.”

Ayanlade said the victim was later referred to a specialist hospital for comprehensive treatment and was currently recuperating.

He further noted that the suspects had confessed to their involvement and roles in the crime. Exhibits recovered from the scene included the bottle of the drug-laced drink identified by both the suspects and the victim.

The police spokesman added that the suspects were being held in lawful custody and would be transferred to the Gender Desk Office in Akure for further discreet investigation and prosecution.

Ayanlade assured residents that the command remained committed to tracking down criminal elements in the state and ensuring they face the full weight of the law.

A 40-year-old man, alleged to be a member of a cult group, was shot dead on Sunday, January 19, 2025, in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

According to eyewitness accounts, the deceased was attacked by two masked gunmen who fled the scene after carrying out the act.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, CSP Funmilayo Odunlami, revealed in a statement made available to journalists that the deceased had been on the police’s wanted list for multiple criminal activities.

Odunlami stated that the man was a known participant in the 2020 EndSARS protest, during which he allegedly attacked a police station, stealing an AK-47 rifle and a bulletproof vest. Additionally, she noted that the deceased was implicated in the murder of a local resident, further solidifying his notoriety within the community.

“The remains of the suspect have been deposited at a hospital morgue in the town,” Odunlami disclosed, adding that the police have launched an investigation to track down the perpetrators of the shooting.

One of the victims has been identified as 52-year-old Fisayo Oladipupo, a former youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owo LGA.

According to sources within the community, Oladipupo was reportedly shot dead in the early hours of Monday by assailants suspected to be cultists.

His body has been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre in Owo.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, stated that four people were killed in the violent encounter.

The Government of Ondo State has announced the death of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information, Wale Akinlosotu, it was revealed that the late Oluwatuyi had been involved in a severe road accident on December 15, 2024, while traveling along the Ife-Ibadan Road.

Following the incident, he was hospitalised but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

“It is with profound sadness that the Government of Ondo State announces the passing of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), on January 4, 2025,” the statement read.

Describing the late politician as a dedicated public servant, Akinlosotu highlighted his significant contributions to the growth and development of Ondo State.

“Hon. Oluwatuyi was a committed public servant whose unwavering dedication to administrative coordination, policy advisory, and implementation greatly impacted Ondo State. His loss leaves a void in our hearts and governance,” he said.

Two commercial motorcyclists, commonly known as Okada riders, have been killed in separate incidents in the Akoko area of northern Ondo State by suspected armed robbers.

In one case, 28-year-old Dada Jatto was found dead in Arigidi Akoko, located in the Akoko North West Local Government area.

His mutilated corpse was discovered near the Arigidi community along Okeagbe Road, three days after he was reported missing. Jatto’s motorcycle remains unaccounted for.

In another incident, another Okada rider was lured to a location between Ikare and Arigidi Akoko.

The victim was attacked, his head smashed by the robbers, who then stole his motorcycle.

Residents reported that the injured motorcyclist was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died. His motorcycle was later recovered in Akunu Akoko, a town near the Kogi State boundary.
