President Bola Tinubu on Monday urged the newly appointed ministers to collaborate with him and each other to fulfill the aspirations of the Nigerian people through their work in government.

The president gave the charge during the inauguration of the 45 confirmed ministers-designate held at the Conference Centre of the State House, Abuja.

He said, “We are in this boat, even if it is a vehicle, and I am the driver, the entire Nigerians are behind sitting and watching as you and I navigate this vehicle. We must hold each other responsible, we have to do the job to meet the expectations of all Nigerians.

“As I said earlier on, you are not a minister of a particular state, colony, region, or ethnic nationality, you are a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

He also reminded the newly sworn Ministers that it is a high honour to be chosen to serve as a minister in the Federal Executive Council, and also charged them with teamwork.

Tinubu noted that the greatest number of Nigerians are expectant of their delivery, accountability, and transparency and as well expect them to work with integrity, dignity, and deliver.

“With the inauguration of Ministers today, we are about to accelerate our governing efforts to move forward in realizing our best aspiration for Nigeria. It’s all about a great team, and I believe we have them here. It is a high honour to be chosen to serve as a minister in the federal executive council of our beloved republic.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and the newly-inaugurated ministers.

APC, also noted with utmost satisfaction the painstaking efforts the President made in picking the new ministers, their speedy screening and confirmation by the Senate, in addition to the rigorous induction of the new appointees towards acquainting them to the onerous task of assisting the President fulfill his promises of re-positioning the economy, ensuring security of lives and property and fighting corruption.

According to its spokesperson, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the APC-led administration has recorded remarkable milestones in three areas, adding that the party aligns with the position of the President that there is more work to be done.

“There are challenges to build on the foundations that have been laid in the last four years. To state a few, the APC-led government has an urgent task to lift Nigerians out of poverty, secure lives and property, grow our economy, build infrastructure, bring back discipline to our private and public conducts and mobilize Nigerians through personal examples towards evolving a Nigeria we all can be proud of,” Issa-Onilu said.

The party further urged the new ministers to justify the confidence reposed in them by the President and, indeed, all Nigerians, by settling down to work quickly, and hit the ground running and consolidate on the progress that have been made in the various sectors.

The APC continued, “We join the President in calling on the newly-inaugurated ministers to ensure teamwork amongst themselves so as to create harmony in the governance system. This is the only way we can achieve synergy in our policy implementation and overall implementation of our Next Level manifesto for the country.

“It is important that our newly-inaugurated ministers understand they are ministers of APC administration, hence, they should reflect the best and progressive ideals of the party in their conduct and actions.

“The Party wishes our newly-inaugurated ministers best of luck as our party through the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari works towards taking our country to the Next Level. We assure the new ministers of the Party’s maximum cooperation and support to make them succeed”.

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mohammed Kurfi Danlami, has condemned in strong terms statements credited to Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Al-Hassan, that she will support a former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in 2019.

The APC lawmaker representing Dutsin-ma/Kurfi Federal Constituency of Katsina State is the deputy chairman, committee on petroleum resources downstream.

In his reaction, Danlami said: ”I still cannot understand why Aisha Al-Hassan a serving minister, will say if her principal, President Buhari contests in 2019, she will not support him and that her support will be for former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. This is most reckless statement I have ever heard.

”With due respect, I expect President Buhari to embark on urgent cabinet reshuffle, this is necessary as it has become obvious that 80 percent of the serving ministers are treacherous, disloyal to the president and also capable of becoming clogs in the wheel of progress of this administration. In my own view Hajia Aishat Alhassan should top the list of those that should be sacked by Mr president.

”Initially we thought her statement was one of such fake news, but shockingly and without remorse she came out in defense of her statement. Since her loyalty is for Atiku, I don’t see any reason she should still remain in Buhari’s cabinet. I think she should just pitch her tent with Atiku’s presidential bid. What amazed me most is that the former VP has not declared yet, neither has the incumbent President.‎”

“This means even if Atiku dumps APC, she will as well follow him. I thought her BBC interview should have been about the progress she recorded in her ministry or innovation she has introduced thus far, but what she could only do was to create unnecessary distraction and embarrass the government. This is ridiculous and most unfortunate,” Kurfi stated.
