The G9, which comprises influential leaders from Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central, and Ibarapa North local government areas, made the presentation to the G64—an expanded leadership caucus of the APC in the zone—during a strategic meeting held recently in Eruwa, Ibarapa East Local Government.

Speaking at the high-level gathering, the G9 Chairman and revered statesman, Chief Timothy Alarape Jolaoso, said the endorsement of Oseni was a product of careful political evaluation, wide consultations, and credible public feedback. According to him, the lawmaker stands out among all potential contenders within the party, possessing the best prospect of securing victory for the APC in the 2027 governorship election.

Jolaoso emphasised that intelligence reports, political surveys, feedback, and analyses from various media platforms consistently point to Oseni as a candidate with widespread grassroots acceptance and political capital that transcends party lines.

“Oseni emerged as the most viable contender following political intelligence reports. He possesses strong grassroots support, administrative experience, and a strong reputation for service delivery. The lawmaker is not only capable but also a man of deep faith with proven empathy for the downtrodden. He has the goodwill, financial strength, and public trust to lead Oyo successfully,” the Nonagenarian added.

He further noted that the lawmaker’s visible and people-oriented representation as a Member of the House of Representatives for Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, coupled with his leadership as the Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), speaks volumes of his competence and commitment to development.

In his response, Hon. Aderemi Oseni expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ibarapa APC Elders Forum for their confidence in his leadership and vision. He described the endorsement not just as a political honour but as “a divine call to serve the people of Oyo State with renewed dedication and compassion.”

“I am deeply humbled by this vote of confidence from our fathers, mothers, and leaders in Ibarapa. This is not a time for self-glory but a sacred responsibility to intensify our efforts towards real development and inclusive governance,” the lawmaker remarked.

He pledged not to betray the trust of the elders and the party faithful, affirming that his ambition is rooted in progressive ideals and a genuine commitment to the development of Oyo State through purposeful leadership.

LESS than 120 days to the much anticipating 2019 general elections, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Oyo state, Barrister Mutiu Agboke said over 790,000 Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) are yet to be collected by the people.

Barrister Agboke disclosed this at a stakeholders meeting for Ibarapa Zone held at the Eruwa Town Hall.

According to Oyo INEC REC, the commission is committed at conducting free, fair and acceptable elections in 2019.

He explained that the electoral umpire is concerned with the thousands of PVCs which remained uncollected despite the frantic effort by the commission.

He further lamented that rather than engaging in political campaigns by parties, what should be paramount in their agendas is to sensitize people on the need to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards.

In his words, “without PVCs, there is no way any individual can exercise his or her civic responsibility during the general elections hence the need for INEC to intensify efforts in its sensitization programmes”.

While appreciating the Ibarapa zone for their cooperation in the recent Ibarapa East State House of Assembly bye elections, the INEC chief said the task of ensuring credible elections cannot be left in the hands of government alone, hence the need for people to cooperate with the commission.

On the Issue of vote buying, Barrister Agboke assured that INEC will do everything within its power to eradicate vote buying in 2019 general elections, but called on politicians to desist from the dastardly act.

Also in her remarks, the state Director, National Orientation Agency,(NOA), Mrs Dolapo Dosunmu emphasized on the need for people to eschew violence before, during and after the general elections.
