A group within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State -the Coalition of PDP Canvassers, has alleged the Chairman, Pacesetter Transport Services (PTS), Mr. Dare Adeleke of fuelling the crisis in Ibadan South East Local Government.

The group, also raised the alarm over possible disruption of the party’s peace in the council area.

In a statement made available to Mega Icon Magazine on Thursday by its spokesperson, Akinade Gbenga, the PDP group noted that the party’s peace has become fragile, following the alleged unprovoked attack on the personality of the Chairman of the local government, Mr Emmanuel Alawode by the Chairman, Pacesetter Transport Services, Mr Dare Adeleke.

It further accused the PTS chairman, Adeleke of instigating some councilors in the local government to wage war against the council boss.

While calling on Governor Seyi Makinde to caution Adeleke, the group also disclosed that the control of the party’s leadership was responsible for smearing of the council chairman’s image.

“To everyone who knows Emmanuel Alawode very well and his leadership style,  you will acknowledge that he is a man of peace, a man who does not want anything to soil his image and reputation.

“Dare Adeleke did not want the existing relationship between Emmanuel Alawode and the South-West PDP Chairman, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja.

“PDP stakeholders in Oyo State should caution Adeleke and tell him to respect Arapaja. Adeleke cannot claim or lord himself as overall leader of the party in the Ibadan South East LG.

“He want to destabilise the administration of Alawode, the local government chairman, who is respecting our leader, Arapaja.

“Adeleke is plotting to select all the supervisory councilors at the local government which is against the will of all leaders in the party, but he want to leverage on his relationship with Governor Seyi Makinde to claim political positions to his side”, the statement said.

The Coalition of PDP Canvassers, however urged Governor Makinde to call Adeleke to order and tell him to desist from unnecessary interference into PDP affairs and administration of Ibadan South East Local Government.

The clash involved supporters of Teslim Ogundeji and Alawode.

While confirming this development, an inside source told our reporter that the PDP weekly meeting held on Tuesday,  3rd September, 2019 at Christ Church Primary School, Odinjo, Ibadan, the state capital, though peaceful initially, but later turned violent leaving five  persons seriously  injured as supporters of  Teslim Ogundeji clashed with the supporters of Alawode, another candidate.

“There was a clash and no one was killed but people were injured and they were later rushed to the hospital for treatment”, the source added.

He disclosed further that there were subterranean moves by top officials of the party to impose their chosen candidates as Council gaffers.

The source further warned the party leaders against imposition of candidates, ahead of the council poll.

Despite protests and legal battles, the state Governor, Mr. Seyi Makinde  during a live television programme at the State-Owned Radio and Television stations – Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) as parts of events to mark the first hundred days on Thursday maintained that the Oyo state government is concluding plans to set up members of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) to conduct fresh elections into the 33 local government areas of the state.

“We are working on LGA, between now and 1.5 weeks, we will appoint people to OYISEC and we will conduct elections as promised”.

According to the council gaffer, Teslim, the story linking him to an alleged kidnap upon which a Hausa auto dealer in Sabo, named Danladi, petitioned the police, causing his arrest and detention for six hours, was entire falsehood, cooked up by elements seeking to cause needless panic and confusion among Ibadan residents.

He urged his supporters to disregard the entire story as false, malicious, unwarranted, stressing that it was a targeted attempt meant to bring his name into disrepute. Speaking further, brother to governor Abiola Ajimobi, Teslim maintained he had not been to any police station in the last one year, not to imagine being released by one anti-kidnap police squad after 6 hours for partaking in a supposed kidnap saga.

Refreshing your memory, the story which was broken on an online medium two days ago alleged the governor’s brother was arrested after a petition by one Danladi who claimed to have been threatened by Teslim that he (Danladi) would be dealt with.

On why he could be alleged of such involvement, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain said, “I am a politician. It must be a design by one of those seeking my fall. But this one seems a joke carried too far”.

“I hereby state categorically that I have never been involved in any crime in my life, whether kidnap or any other one. While I admit I know Danladi, being a friend of my younger brother,  I am not aware of any kidnap attempt on him by anyone, least of all by me! As Caretaker chairman of Ibadan Southeast Local Government, I have been discharging the duties of the office without any fear or let.

“My attention was drawn to the story which had been circulating on an online medium by a friend who had read same. At first, I did not understand it, not because of the language,  but the fact that I was actually deep into some discussion when my attention was drawn to it, and could therefore not fathom how such a character could be me.

“In the past four or five weeks, there has not been any single day I have not been in the office. I have been engaged most often by issues which have to deal directly with the people of Ibadan Southeast. I cannot therefore imagine spending whole six hours in police custody. This seems the wish of the enemies. Fortunately, it is not the wish of God for me,” Ajimobi continued.
