He describe the fight against corruption as duty in which all citizen must partake to secure better life and atmosphere for good governance.

“Do you want good road? Do you want stable electricity? Do you want security? Do you want good healthcare? Do you want free education for children? We must all rally against corruption,” he declared.

Governor Makinde was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun; Deputy Chief of Staff, Mojeed Mogbojubola, and other top government functionaries.

The Ibadan zonal head of the Commission, Friday Ebelo, had earlier addressed journalists to intimate them on the essence of the day and why the EFCC was marking it with a road walk.

“Corruptions remains the most potent threat to human existence. It is at the root of every tragedy that ever befell mankind. It has also been identified as the ultimate potential impediment to the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals proposed for full actualisation by the year 2030.

“It is the realisation of these threats and the need to nip them in the bud that countries of the world came together under the auspices of the United Nations to pass the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) in December 2003. As of today, 186 member-states are parties to the treaty. The document currently has 140 signatories and 30 ratification. Those are in addition to the full involvement of notable Non-Member states of the global body,” he recalled.

Ebelo reeled out to the press some of he successes of the zone for the year.
“In the last one year, particularly from January 2019 till date, the zone received 691 petitions. 213 of these were returned unapproved as issues raised therein did not fall under the purview of our mandate.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted the Department of State Service (DSS) an application to detain the convener of #RevolutionNow Protest, Omoyele Sowore in their custody.

The vacation judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo said he will grant the application only for a period of 45 days, adding that the 45 days will start to count from today.

Although the DSS had asked for 90 days in line with Section 27 Sub -Section 1 of the Terrorism Act Justice Taiwo held that the “MAY” in that section is a directory which gives the court discretion to decide as to the number of days to give the applicants and having looked at all the prayers and evidence attached, he is of the view to grant 45 days for the applicants to carry out their investigation.

He said, however, the DSS is at liberty to return to court via an application to ask for more days.

Sowore, who is the publisher of Sahara Reporters and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC in the February 2019 elections was arrested in the early hours of Saturday by operatives of the DSS in a hotel in Lagos.

DSS said Sowore was arrested on account of the #RevolutionNow protest which he had spearheaded.

THE immediate past Chief Detail of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Mr. Saheed Aderounmu has explained that the urge to serve the people as well as to make a good and sustainable impact were responsible for his resignation from the Department of State Service (DSS) to join active politics.

The former Chief Detail, who is vying for a seat in the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to represent Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the 2019 general elections, while speaking with journalists in Ibadan, added that the collective interest and well-being of the people in the area would form the nucleus of his representation, noting that he would never betray the confidence reposed in him by the electorate if given the opportunity to serve them.

https://iso.keq.mybluehost.me/2019-olubadans-daughter-eyes-oyo-assembly-seat/

Aderounmu, who had been the governor’s Chief Detail since his assumption of office in 2011, also promised to attract quality and people-oriented projects to the constituency to enhance the socio-economic and political life of the people in the federal constituency.

In his words, “I am in the race for the House of Representatives seat to serve my people, to give them direction and build a solid political mind-set through a quality law making so that they can stand on their feet.

“My people suffer because no one with true intention of changing their misfortune. I want to lead my people to the path of progress, development and inculcate in them true zeal of patriotism. I will teach my people how to fish, make wine and merry in place of political rascality,” he assured.

Speaking further, Aderounmu hinted that he was confident because he had worked and planned his political activities with the people.

“I believe in going to the grassroots and there was never a time that my people have not shown me love judging from my proven humanitarian attachment to them. I am a man of the people with heart for service.

https://iso.keq.mybluehost.me/2019-ladoja-koleosos-adc-coalition-a-strange-union-oyo-apc/

“My party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has all the ingredients to win the election.

“APC is the only political party in the country as of today that is stable, that has a guiding manifesto and their internal democracy is unbeatable.

“I have demonstrated my sincere love to the people of my constituency at a lager extent by my patriotic contributions towards the development of the area.

“Therefore, if our electorate are very sincere and honestly desire a true representation, they should not look elsewhere no matter the distraction, ” he urged.

The group in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Mr. Musliudeen Adebayo noted that Nigerian Council for Social Work bill which has been passed by the two houses of the National Assembly, when assented to by the President will serve as one of his major achievements “because it will address various socioeconomic and political problems militating against the existence of Nigeria and its people”.

While calling on Nigerians to support it in ensuring that “Nigerian Council of Social Work (Establishment) Bill 2017” is sign by the President without further delay, FCPTSWN lamented that it was surprised that some elements under the guise of Institute of Social Work of Nigeria (ISWON) led by one John Emaimo (Executive Director) and Eze Ifem (President) are sponsoring another bill “Chartered institute of social work practitioners”, which is not only in conflict with the existing bill but tends to cause confusion.

The group while calling attention of relevant bodies to a planned meeting slated for this week in Abuja which has been postponed noted with concern that such meeting should not be a 20, 25 or 30 man meeting but the one that will be encompasing; open to all members because such meeting where future of Social Work and Social Workers is to be decided should not be left in the hands of some few individuals.

The group while speaking further lamented that despite threats from some individuals and groups to truncate its efforts in rescue Social Work from hands of usurpers noted that the group will not rest on its oars to ensure that such injustice on the profession and the professionals is not allowed to stand.

This is directly in conflict with the Council bill. We don’t need a soothsayer to tell use that ISWON wishes to hijack, relegate and regulate NASoW, Social Work and all Social workers including you and I in Nigeria.

So, what is the fate of those who have earned degrees, diplomas, Masters or PhD in Social Work in tertiary institutions offering Social Work? Is this bill saying they are going to be subjected to another training through the money making chartered institute?

Based on this, we are of the opinon that all revelant bodies, President Buhari, Senate, House of Representatives, security agencies, NASoW, AMSWON, NASWE, UNICEF, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development should as a matter of urgency nip this abnormaliy immediately and challenge this broad day robbery on our profession.

If ISWON bill is passed, which we are praying it shall not see the light of the day, those who have earned Diplomas, Degress, Masters and PhD in Social Work and even professors of Social Work will have to be certified by ISWON going by what the ISWON bill entails.

We wish to inform you that members of this group have received threats from some individuals who asked us to stop the good work, but we remained resolute that with God, the giver of life, any weapon targeted against us shall not see the light of the day. We also appeal to you to use your good office and investigate this matter without further delay.

We are aware that a meeting which has been postponed was called, we call on leadership of NASoW to make such meeting encompassing and open to all members irrespective of their positions. The meeting should not be restricted to NASoW, AMSWON, NASWE exco, chapter Chairmen and Secretaries alone, such meeting of high importance where future of Social Work would be decided should not be left in the hands of some selected individuals. Before such a meeting is called, a notice of at least one week must be given to members to prepare bearing in mind that all social workers are not in the same location. Details of such meeting including date, time, venue and agenda to be discussed must also be clearly stated.

On this note, we wish to say it once again that we are appealing to President Buhari to assent our bill, “Nigerian Council for Social Work (Establishment) Bill 2017″and urge House of Representatives of Nigeria to stop further work on the bill introduced by ISWON because it tends to usurp the functions of the Council of Social Work as being presented in Nigerian Council for Social Work (Establishment) Bill 2017.

We are confident that you will use your good office and ensure that this injustice is totally eradicated in the profession of Social Work in Nigeria”.
