Speaking while featuring on CEO Africa online television program in Ibadan, the state capital, yesterday, he said “we have points of disagreement, particularly on issues that affect the masses and at times before it gets to the public domain I let them know the implications of any move they want to take with the evidence of law to back it”.

Adeyemo, a lawyer, also maintained that the relationship with the executive arm of government is cordial  in the interest of progress of the state.

” It is not a matter of being pro Ajimobi. When you have an organization and you are part of the organization, the  failure and the success of the  administration you share it, so you must ensure that everything that will bring success to that administration should be your concern.

“People are so interested in crisis because that is what we have been noted for in the past. Must you be against the governor for no reason all because of politics? No , you have to partner with the executive and other arm of government and ensure the people of the state benefits whatever programs you have, but if you are fighting who are you going to work with, this is a government that said he has the plan to transform Oyo state” the speaker said.

In addition, he noted that the present 8th Assembly has recorded a great success in the last two years with the passage of 45 bills into law and several others at the advance stage.

According to him, the law bothers on general administration, health, criminal procedures, judgment on kidnapping, community service, education trust fund, hospital registration, violence against women, agricultural development among others.

The lawmaker, further disclosed that about 15-20 laws are at the stage of second reading while 3 are at the first reading. “I am sure more laws will still be passed  before the expiration of our tenure in 2019 part of which is establishment of primary health care agency and mineral development agency”.

 A Project Monitoring Group, Ajimobi Legacy Project Group, has appealed to former Governor Rashidi Ladoja and his party, Accord Party to submit the list of projects he dreamt passionately to actualize while in office to Governor Abiola Ajimobi to actualize.

The Group, in a statement issued  at the weekend, said that the statement credited to Ladoja’s Accord Party that the former governor initiated the Ibadan Circular Road project should be commended rather than being condemned. It cautioned however that the violence which the Ladoja administration was known for should not be part of the initiatives to be submitted.

The coordinator of the group, Lukman Babatunde, noted that the statement shows that former governor Ladoja was bereft of  the grace to actualize governmental ideas while at the helms of affairs, stressing that former governor Ladoja did not have a worthy legacy to leave except violence, stating that only actualizers were celebrated throughout the world and not dreamers.

The group stated that  the habit of Accord Party to always claim being initiators of iconic projects executed by Governor Abiola Ajimobi should not be surprising to the people, adding that the party’s leader also dreamt of constructing a flyover bridge at the Mokola area of Ibadan, which was later constructed by Ajimobi.

The group said: “We are not surprised with the statement credited to the Publicity Secretary of Accord Party on the Ibadan Circular Road. Only those who are not familiar with the habit of Accord Party members will give credence to their utterances.

“When the Mokola flyover was constructed, Governor Ladoja claimed to have dreamt of it. However, he could not construct or flag it off in his four years in office. We want to put in on record that this project was completed two years after Governor Ajimobi assumed office. We want to also put on record that the over N4bn former governor Ladoja is being tried for could have completed two flyovers but nothing was done.

“The party is going round again to say that Ladoja initiated the Ibadan Circular Project. We are not bothered about the initiator but very much concerned about the person who birthed it. The records are there and records do not lie. The records will show the initiator but nowhere in the world is a dreamer celebrated. We believe that Accord Party should have supported the projects going on in the state, rather than claiming undue glory.

“Throughout the world,  Government is a continuum, leaders follow up on policies, ideas or initiatives as there is no point sometimes in reinventing the wheel. An idea can be repackaged and carefully executed. We want to appeal to former Governor Ladoja and his Accord Party to submit all the initiatives he dreamt of while in office that will be beneficial to the people of the state for Ajimobi the actualiser to actualize.

THE Oyo State House of Assembly has ordered the Divisional Police Officers in charge of Asabari Local Council Development Area, Irepo Local Government Area and Lagelu West Local Council Development Area respectively to arrest and detain anyone parading himself as caretaker chairman for these council areas. 

The House gave the order following a point of order raised by Hon. Gbenga Oyekola from Atiba State Constituency who drew the attention of the lawmakers to the imminent risk on the inauguration of two (2) rejected nominees and substitution of the screneed nominee for Lagelu West LCDA.

Oyekola who called the attention of his colleagues to some reports in the online media noted that, the house screened 55 nominees but the executive arm led by Governor Abiola Ajimobi went ahead to inuagurate 57 nominees by not taking into consideration of the two nominees who had earlier been dropped for the positions by the house.

The lawmaker further disclosed that there is looming crisis in Lagelu West LCDA over who is the legitimate chairman because the person who was screened has been swapped with another person without the consent of the house.

Oyekola recalled, “the house screened 55 nominees and rejected two, but to my utmost dismay the two were swear-in.

“Also, we screened Akeem Aransi for Lagelu West LCDA but unfortunately another person was swore-in and assumed office. On that note I want the house to produce the copy of the letter we sent to the executive. We sent the name to the executive and they received it”.

Refreshing your memory, the State House of Assembly, had last week dropped Mudasir Agbaje (Irepo LGA) and Taiwo Adeleke (Asabari LCDA) for issues of certificate and poor performance at the screening exercise.

Similarly, other lawmakers who spoke include Hon. Olusegun Olaleye (Ibadan North 2), Hon. Olawumi Oladeji and Hon. Muideen Olagunju, all condemned the action of the executive arm describing it as “illegality”.

Responding, the Speaker of the house, Hon. Micheal Adeyemo at the plenary asserted, “the issue raised has come to the knowledge of the house and actions would be taken on it to invite the Secretary to the State Government, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs. We cant say yes or not.

“We have the right to screen, we don’t nominate, the fault is not from us”.

Adeyemo, also read a letter from the Governor dated 6th April 2017 notifying the house on the replacement of Akeem Aransi for Abiodun Oladeji. He said the letter was received last week but could not be read because it was received during plenary days.
The Speaker, however ordered the DPOs in charge of these areas to arrest those parading themselves as the chairmen in these areas to the Commissioner of Police in the state to prevent outbreak of law and order in the areas.

He then seeked the attention of the lawmakers to summon the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olalekan Alli and the Permanet Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Mrs. Hanna Ogunesan for questioning over the abnormalities.

Adeyemo stressed that the SSG who is in charge of the state correspondences and the Permanent Secretary in the ministry should be called to answer the questions bothering on the swearing in of the rejected nominees and the substitution of names.

“Anybody that is parading himself as Chairman for Asabari LCDA, Irepo LGA and Lagelu West LCDA shoud be arrested. The two, Asabari and Irepo, there is no chairman there. On the issue of Lagelu, the person that was swore-in but not screened should also be arrested and the man that was screened but was not inagurate should stop parading himself as the chairman, doing so he should be arrested.

“We as the legistlative arm, we have to uphold the principle of rule of law. Members have said their own, we have to invite and get across to others”, the Speaker reechoed.

Chairman House Committee on Information, Hon. Josuha Oyebamiji while briefing journalists after the plenary session said that the order takes effect immediatly.

“We screened 55 people but to our dismay, the two people we rejected were also swore-in. At Lagelu, the candidate we screened was replaced by another person.  And the house resolved that those people for the 3 councils should stop parading themselves until the committee we set up come up with their report.

“We said that DPOs in those areas should arrest them and hand them over to the Commissioner of Police.

“The Committee will find out who and those who caused it, you can fell the heat in the house today.

Similarly , Oyebamiji said “The person has been swore-in before screening. It is a belated issue. The house has passed the letter to the committee. But there is no Chairman in these 3 councils”.
