In a recent lecture, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, emphasized the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to strengthening its air combat capabilities.

The NAF is currently in the process of training 1,467 personnel, both locally and internationally, as it acquires new aircraft and platforms.

Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted the “significant gains” achieved through research and development activities aimed at domestic manufacturing of essential air capabilities.

These efforts are geared towards addressing both current and future air combat needs, particularly in the face of complex security challenges such as climate change, technological proliferation, separatism, and terrorism.

During his lecture titled ‘The Future of Air Warfare in the Nigerian Air Force – My Command Philosophy,’ delivered to participants of Senior Course 46 at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Kaduna State, Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized the importance of intelligence gathering, surveillance, rapid mobility, precision attack, and the use of unarmed aircraft in future air warfare.

He also stressed the significance of joint operations among the different branches of the military and strategic alliances with other countries to enhance national security.

The Commandant of the Armed Forces College, AVM Hassan Alhaji, echoed the importance of this senior lecture in the career progression of the participants.

Air Marshal Abubakar’s assurance that Nigeria would overcome its security challenges through joint efforts and strategic partnerships underscores the NAF’s commitment to ensuring the country’s security in an ever-evolving security landscape.
