Oyo commissioner lauds Ajimobi for redeeming school’s sporting glory

Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela on Friday commended  the governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi for making sure that glory of schools’ sports is redeemed  through prompt approval and release of fund for school sporting programmes.
The Commissioner also  hinted that Ajumose football competition is meant to discover talents among secondary students to enhance sporting prosperity.
He  stated this  at the final kick off of the under 13 competition held at main bowl of Lekan Salami Sport Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
Olowofela stressed that  sports and games are powerful instruments for physical, mental, social and spiritual development of individuals and the society, noting  that it is regrettable that in spite of many laudable and lofty ideas attributed to games and sports, there had been low participation of students from schools in sporting competitions.
The ex-council gaffer of Ido Local Government maintained that the annual Ajumose Inter-secondary school sports festival will help to discover young talented players from the grassroots which reminds of “catch them young”adage. He, however advised the parents to encourage and enroll their wards in sporting activities to bring honours to their families, school and the state at large.
The Ibadan and Oyo  zones’ teams qualified for the final kick off where Oyo team emerged the winner in the football competition after penalty shoot out.
