The Nigerian Army has said its renewed offensive against the remnants of Boko Haram in the north-eastern part of Nigeria has yielded fruits in which case, a number of Boko Haram commanders were neutralized during heavy bombardments of their hide-outs in Borno State, all within a week.
President Muhammadu Buhari shortly after his return from London charged the Nigerian military to go after the remnants of Boko Haram an finish off their operations in areas of their stronghold.
Prior, on the order of the Presidency, the military authorities had relocated its high command to Borno state on a task to wrap up the campaign against Boko Haram to save more lives and properties of the people in the zone.
The Army said it recorded a number of break-through with the bombardments through crisp information it obtained about the location of suspected top Boko Haram terrorists’ leaders.
The Army spokesman, Brigadier General Sani Usman Kukasheka in a statement said the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force in joint efforts have been carrying out heavy artillery bombardments and air interdictions on registered targets that have killed a large number of Boko Haram terrorists including some of the group’s key leaders.
Kukasheka said, “The Nigerian Army artillery using Multi-Barrel Rocket Launchers has lobbed many rockets over the suspected location the terrorists’ leaders are hiding.
“Video clips obtained on battle damage assessment shows clear success of the exercise.
“More details of successes achieved will be made available as the operation continues.
“The key Boko Haram terrorists Ameers neutralized within the week during the joint Artillery and Nigerian Air Force air bombardments include; Abu Dujana, Man Tahiru (Deputy to Boko Haram terrorists group Hisba leader), Man Chari, Malam Abdullahi (left) Abu Sa’ad (Right) and Goni Bamanga.
“The Nigerian military would continue with the concerted onslaught on the reported Boko Haram terrorists’ location till they have been eliminated.
