Malcom’s Roma transfer ‘hijacked by Barcelona’

Malcom has reportedly agreed to sign for Barcelona in a £36.5million deal.

Roma failed with a last-gasp bid to snare the 21-year-old because the winger has his heart set on a move to the Spanish giants instead.

The Serie A outfit were in the driving seat to secure Malcom’s signature on Monday night after having a bid accepted.

However, Barcelona stepped in to hijack the deal at the eleventh hour and his representatives travelled to Spain for talks.

Roma returned to the negotiating table with an improved offer to the Ligue 1 outfit on Tuesday morning.

However, Malcom favours a switch to the Nou Camp and is poised to put pen to paper.

L’Equipe claim the player has told his team-mates he is joining the Catalans and could undergo a medical as early as Tuesday afternoon.

Everton had also been interested in Malcom earlier in the window.
