Oseni, who represents Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, is expected to unveil his senatorial bid at the Recreation Club, Ibadan, by 10 a.m.

A statement issued on Friday by his media aide, Idowu Ayodele, said all arrangements have been concluded for the declaration, which will formally signal the lawmaker’s entry into the Oyo South senatorial race ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The statement added that the event is expected to attract political leaders, including party chieftains, state and senatorial executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stakeholders, supporters, and members of the public across the senatorial district.

It further noted that adequate security and traffic management arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth and orderly event.

Oseni, who currently chairs the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), is positioning for a broader legislative role in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

A House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon. Monsuru Akintunde Adeyemo, on Friday urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State to unite ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning that disunity could undermine the party’s chances of returning to power.

Adeyemo, popularly known as Socrates, made the call in a statement, where he also drummed support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The former Vice Chairman of Aare Latosa Local Council Development Area stressed that cohesion among party leaders and stakeholders remained critical to building a formidable opposition in the state.

He commended party chieftains, including Moses Alake-Adeyemo, for their roles in repositioning the party for future electoral success.

“The task before us requires unwavering commitment and unity of purpose. A divided house cannot stand. If we are determined to reclaim Oyo State in 2027, we must close ranks and work together,” he said.

Adeyemo also criticised the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, alleging that residents were experiencing the effects of what he described as governance failures.

“With the current realities in Oyo State, it is evident that the only credible alternative in 2027 is the APC. I commend our leaders for rebuilding the party and urge members to remain steadfast, as victory lies in our collective resolve,” he added.

The aspirant further described Tinubu’s leadership as pivotal to Nigeria’s recovery and long-term development, urging Nigerians to sustain their support for the President.

Adeyemo, who is also the Oyo State Coordinator of Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria, called on party loyalists to intensify grassroots mobilisation, deepen engagement across communities, and work collectively towards ensuring victory for the APC in Oyo State in 2027.

…cites NELFUND, LG autonomy, rising allocations, state police, electricity reforms

A member of the House of Representatives from Oyo State, Hon. Aderemi Oseni, has restated that the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains his “ultimate political project” ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Friday by his media aide, Idowu Ayodele, and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Oseni, who represents Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency and chairs the House Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), said his position was informed by what he described as “verifiable and far-reaching reforms” introduced by the Tinubu-led administration across key sectors.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is my ultimate political project. I am committed to mobilising all available structures and support across all strata of our society to ensure his re-election in 2027,” the lawmaker said.

Oseni highlighted major policy milestones, including the signing of the Electricity Act, which decentralises the power sector and empowers states and private investors to generate and distribute electricity.

He also referenced the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), noting that the scheme provides interest-free loans to students in tertiary institutions, and described it as a critical intervention in expanding access to higher education.

According to him, the administration’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of petrol subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market have significantly boosted government revenue and improved fiscal transparency.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain added that one of the most impactful outcomes of these reforms is the increase in allocations to states and local governments, which, he said, has enhanced their capacity to execute projects and meet obligations to workers.

Oseni further pointed to the push for local government financial autonomy, following recent judicial pronouncements and policy backing by the Federal Government, noting that it would strengthen grassroots governance and service delivery.

He also cited ongoing national conversations and policy steps towards the establishment of state police as part of broader security sector reforms aimed at addressing localised security challenges.

On infrastructure, Oseni said the administration had prioritised road construction and rehabilitation across the country, as well as railway development, with increased intervention through relevant agencies to improve connectivity and support economic growth.

He noted improvements in key economic indicators, including revenue generation and efforts to stabilise the macroeconomic environment, adding that reforms in the oil and gas sector are gradually boosting investor confidence and local capacity.

Oseni, however, acknowledged that there might be challenges, explaining that “While all may not be perfect at the moment, tangible results and key performance indicators clearly show that hope is rising and indeed being renewed. The foundation being laid today will yield greater benefits in the coming years,” he said.

He stressed that continuity in President Tinubu’s leadership was essential to consolidate ongoing reforms and deliver long-term national development.

“This is not the time for disunity or distractions. We must close ranks, deepen grassroots mobilisation, and work collectively to deliver victory for our party and President Tinubu,” Oseni submitted.

…review covers all cadres, boosts welfare, retirement security

The Federal Government has approved a sweeping upward review of peculiar allowances and welfare packages for civil servants, alongside the introduction of 100 per cent duty tour allowance for training and a new exit benefit scheme for retirees.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, disclosed this on Friday during a press briefing in Abuja, describing the decision as a major step towards enhancing workers’ earnings, morale and post-service security.

She said the review applies to officers on the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure and the Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure, with a design that ensures benefits cut across all grade levels.

According to her, the restructured allowances will improve take-home pay for both senior and junior officers, reflecting the government’s commitment to a more inclusive welfare framework.
Walson-Jack further disclosed that key allowances captured in the Public Service Rules, including duty tour allowance, estacode and book allowance, had been comprehensively reviewed.

Highlighting one of the major reforms, she announced the approval of 100 per cent duty tour allowance for civil servants attending approved training programmes, irrespective of whether such training involves travel.

“Even when the training is within the same location, officers are entitled to full DTA,” she said.

In a related development, the Federal Government has introduced an exit benefit scheme for retiring civil servants under the Contributory Pension Scheme, effective January 1, 2026.

The scheme provides 100 per cent of a retiree’s full emoluments as an exit package, separate from pension entitlement.

The Head of Service said the initiative was designed to uphold dignity in retirement and ensure that public servants exit service with adequate financial support.

She also confirmed the operationalisation of the Employee Compensation Scheme, aimed at providing financial protection for workers in cases of job-related injury or death.

The reforms come amid growing pressure from labour unions for improved welfare, as rising living costs continue to strain workers’ incomes. The latest move follows an earlier salary adjustment by the Federal Government, which approved a 25 to 35 per cent increase for workers across several consolidated salary structures.

Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo South Senatorial District have endorsed a member of the House of Representatives, Aderemi Oseni, as their consensus candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.

The endorsement was announced on Wednesday at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Alice Hall, Ibadan, with party leaders, stakeholders, local government chairmen and state executive members from the nine local government areas in attendance.

The councils represented at the meeting are Ibadan North, Ibadan North-East, Ibadan North-West, Ibadan South-East, Ibadan South-West, Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North and Ido.

‎The stakeholders expressed satisfaction with Oseni’s aspiration, describing it as timely, credible and anchored on tested leadership and grassroots appeal.

‎Those present at the meeting included Chief Timothy Jolaoso (Ibarapa East); Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajisafe (Ido); Chief Abdulrauf Bello (Ido); Alhaji Muili Oluokun (Ibadan North-West); Alhaji Mufutau Adisa (Ibadan South-East); Alhaji Bello Oladeji (Ibadan North); Prince Gbade Lana (Ibadan North-East); Engr. Olatunji (Ibadan South-West); Comrade Wale Gbadamosi (Ibarapa North); and Alhaja Moji Adetona (Ibarapa Central).

‎Other party officials in attendance were the senatorial chairman, Alhaji Mojeed Adebayo; the secretary, Fatai Adesina; Welfare Officer, Sunday Babalola; Deputy Women Leader, Alhaja Fatimah Hassan; Auditor, Alhaja Tinu Adigun; Youth Leader, Lekan Adebayo; Ex-Officio member, Kola Amoo; Treasurer, Lateef Ajiboye; and Senatorial Youth Leader, Olalekan Olowe.

A chieftain of the party in Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Shina Alabi, moved the motion for the lawmaker’s endorsement, which was seconded and unanimously adopted by the stakeholders.

Alabi said Oseni’s decision to abide by President Bola Tinubu’s directive to step down his governorship ambition for the senatorial race underscored his loyalty and commitment to party unity.

‎He said, “Hon. Oseni has demonstrated uncommon commitment to the welfare of the people. His leadership style is inclusive, responsive and development-driven. We are convinced that his emergence as the APC candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District will strengthen the party’s chances and guarantee effective representation.”

‎He also urged party members to remain united and rally behind credible aspirants with proven capacity and electoral value.

‎In his remarks, Hon. Aderemi Oseni said his decision to pursue the senatorial seat followed the presidential directives, noting that he accepted the decision in the interest of party cohesion, progress and stability. He recalled that he had earlier prepared for the Oyo South senatorial race in the 2023 general elections, having already purchased the nomination and expression of interest forms as part of an arrangement reached, before stepping down following appeals by party leaders.

The lawmaker, who chairs the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), said the party must close ranks to reclaim political dominance in the senatorial district.

‎According to him, “There is a huge task ahead, especially with several House of Representatives seats in the district currently held by the opposition. We must work together, mobilise effectively and secure victory for our party and leader, President Bola Tinubu”.

‎Oseni thanked party leaders and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him and assured them of his commitment to advancing the interests of Oyo South Senatorial District.

The meeting also had representatives from all nine local government areas, with about 10 leaders from each council in attendance.

An online platform, IMPARTNEWSNETWORK, had alleged that Akinmoyede assaulted one Gafar Oyebade during a meeting convened by the state chairman of the party, Alake Adeyemo, to resolve issues surrounding the executive list of the APC in Lagelu Local Government Area.

However, Akinmoyede, in a statement on Tuesday, said the meeting was peaceful and attended by key members of the state executive, including the chairman, deputy chairman, and secretary, who witnessed the proceedings.

He clarified that contrary to Oyebade’s claim of being the party secretary, the official list presented by the state leadership recognised him as the Public Relations Officer.

According to the lawmaker, following the clarification, the state executive directed the Lagelu Local Government chairman, Fatai Awoyoola, to proceed with the swearing-in of other party officials.

Akinmoyede also faulted attempts to link the incident with the 2019 killing of a former federal lawmaker, noting that a court of competent jurisdiction had already ruled on the matter.

He said, “In Suit No. I/70c/2019, delivered by Justice Mufutau Adegbola on January 23, 2020, all those accused were discharged and acquitted.”

The lawmaker expressed concern over what he described as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, alleging that Oyebade, a public school teacher under the Oyo State Government, should not be involved in partisan politics.

He described the allegation as a “recycled script” aimed at tarnishing his image ahead of political activities, urging constituents to remain calm.

Akinmoyede also called on journalists to verify information before publication and urged security agencies to take action against individuals who file false reports.

“These tactics surface every election cycle. Those behind them should learn to accept the outcomes of political processes. They failed before and will fail again. Power comes from God,” he added.

The denial was contained in a statement issued on Monday by his Legislative Aide, Dr. Isiaq Akintunde.

Oyebade had alleged that he was hospitalised following a confrontation during a meeting held at the office of the state party chairman in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, convened to resolve a leadership dispute in the local government.

‎But the federal lawmaker maintained that the meeting was peaceful and attended by top party officials.

‎“The meeting was convened to clarify Mr. Oyebade’s position within the local executive, and it was attended by the State Party Chairman, his deputy, the secretary, the publicity secretary, and other key state executives, all of whom witnessed the peaceful proceedings,” the statement read.
‎
‎He added that contrary to Oyebade’s claim of being the party secretary, the official list presented by the Lagelu Local Government Party Chairman, Hon. Fatai Awoyoola, identified him as the Public Relations Officer.

‎According to Akinmoyede, the state executive thereafter directed Awoyoola to proceed with the swearing-in of the remaining members of the local government executive.

‎The lawmaker accused Oyebade of fabricating the allegation to advance political interests.

‎“I wonder why Mr. Gafar Oyebade, a secondary school teacher, would claim he was assaulted in the presence of the State Executive. This is an attempt to justify money allegedly collected from an aspirant to tarnish my image,” he said.

‎Akinmoyede further claimed that Oyebade was seen walking freely after the meeting and was not hospitalised as alleged.

‎He also raised concerns over Oyebade’s involvement in partisan politics, noting that civil servants are restricted from active participation in political activities.

The lawmaker called on security agencies and the media to investigate the incident at the party’s Oke-Ado office to ascertain the veracity of the claims.
‎
‎Efforts to reach Oyebade for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

The lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, Aderemi Oseni, has declared his intention to contest the Oyo South Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

Oseni made his aspiration known during a high-level meeting with the Ibarapa APC Elders’ and Leaders’ Forum, comprising the G9 and the expanded G64 caucus, held at the party secretariat in Eruwa, Ibarapa East Local Government Area, over the weekend.

The G9 and G64 groups consist of influential stakeholders drawn from Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central, and Ibarapa North local government areas.

In a statement issued on Monday by his media aide, Idowu Ayodele, and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the lawmaker expressed appreciation to the forum for their support and confidence in his leadership and vision.

He said his ambition to represent Oyo South Senatorial District was anchored on a determination to consolidate and expand his record of performance.

Oseni said, “This aspiration is not built on mere rhetoric, but on the continuity and expansion of a proven track record of quality representation and grassroots-oriented governance.”

While soliciting the support of party leaders, he described his ambition as a divine call to serve the people with renewed dedication.

According to him, “This is not a time for self-glory but a sacred responsibility to intensify efforts towards real development, bring more relief to our people and ensure inclusive governance.”

He pledged not to betray the trust reposed in him by party elders and faithful, stressing that his aspiration is rooted in progressive ideals and a genuine commitment to the development of the district.

Oseni also urged leaders in the zone to mobilise support towards delivering one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming election.

Speaking at the meeting, a leader from Ibarapa East, Chief Michael Morawo, lauded the lawmaker for delivering democratic dividends and strengthening the party structure. He added that Oseni has demonstrated commendable leadership through his performance, noting that his impact in stabilising the party within the constituency is evident.

Similarly, a former council chairman in Ibarapa Central, Chief Theophilus Adenrele, commended the lawmaker for not betraying the trust reposed in him. Also, a chieftain from Ibarapa North, Chief Francis Babalola, described Oseni as a humble leader committed to progressive ideals, dismissing speculations about his possible defection if he does not secure the governorship ticket.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the forum, Chief Timothy Jolaoso, said the lawmaker enjoys widespread grassroots acceptance that cuts across political divides.

Jolaoso said, “All indicators consistently point to Oseni as a candidate with acceptance that transcends party lines. He is not only capable but a man of deep faith with proven empathy for the downtrodden.”

He added, “He possesses the goodwill, financial strength, and public trust required for leadership.”

The elder statesman further noted that Oseni’s performance in the House of Representatives, alongside his role as Chairman of the FERMA Committee, underscores his competence and commitment to development.

Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli on Friday formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, pledging to run a people-driven administration anchored on inclusive development, security and economic growth.

Alli made the declaration at the Yemetu Police Barracks in Ibadan, where political leaders, party faithful, traditional stakeholders and supporters gathered in large numbers.

In his address, the lawmaker said his decision followed wide consultations with party leaders, traditional rulers and residents across the geopolitical zones of the state.

He described the moment as “a turning point” and “a declaration of purpose,” noting that his ambition was driven by service rather than personal gain.

“This is not about ambition alone. It is about responsibility, service, and the future and prosperity of the good people of Oyo State,” he said.

Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, highlighted his experience in public service, including his tenure as the first democratically elected chairman of Ibadan North Local Government in 1991, as well as his roles as Secretary to the State Government and Chief of Staff in previous administrations.

According to him, the experiences shaped his governance philosophy, which prioritises impact, accountability and grassroots development.

The senator said although Oyo State is endowed with rich history, culture and human capital, it requires renewed leadership to unlock its full potential.

He said his administration would focus on key sectors such as education, security, healthcare, infrastructure and economic empowerment.

On education, Alli expressed concern over declining standards and pledged reforms to reposition the sector for innovation and sustainable development.

“We must plan not just for today, but for generations yet unborn,” he said.

Speaking on security, he assured residents that safety would be prioritised, noting that development could only thrive in a peaceful environment.

He added that his administration would expand healthcare access, while infrastructure development would focus on bridging the gap between rural and urban communities.

The lawmaker also pledged to boost economic activities by empowering traders, artisans and small business owners, whom he described as the backbone of the state’s economy.

He further promised to create opportunities for youths through entrepreneurship and digital transformation initiatives.

“We will refocus development to the grassroots and ensure that local governments function effectively with real autonomy,” he added.

Alli also outlined plans to revitalise agriculture through modern farming techniques and improved market access.

On governance, he pledged transparency, accountability and merit-based civil service reforms, assuring workers and pensioners of improved welfare and prompt payment of entitlements.

He emphasised gender inclusion, noting that women would play key roles in his administration, while traditional rulers and community leaders would be actively engaged.

Reflecting on past leadership in the state, Alli paid tribute to former governors and political figures, saying his administration would build on their legacies.

“I offer myself to you not as a master, but as a servant, tested, prepared, and ready to serve,” he said.

Dignitaries at the event included a former Deputy Governor of the state, Iyiola Oladokun; a member of the House of Representatives, Aderemi Oseni; Senator Yinus Akintunde; and Senator Ayoade Adeseun, among others.

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has dismissed allegations that he received money from proxies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to facilitate the impeachment of Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the claim as false, malicious and politically motivated.

Ogundoyin, in a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, said no money exchanged hands at any meeting, insisting that the allegation was a calculated attempt to tarnish his image and create disaffection within the state’s political leadership.

He said, “I was presented with juicy offers and opportunities, but I declined without hesitation because nothing can sway my conscience or weaken my loyalty to the governor, the party, and the people we were elected to serve. I remain fully committed to upholding the integrity of this House and will not be part of any agenda aimed at destabilising the government we built.”

The Speaker stressed that he would never betray the mandate of the people or undermine the administration of Makinde, noting that his loyalty to the governor and the ruling party remained unwavering.

He reaffirmed that no individual or group would succeed in driving a wedge between him and the executive arm or derail the collective mandate entrusted to them by the electorate.

Ogundoyin further stated that under his leadership, the Assembly remained committed to constitutional order, legislative independence, and good governance in the interest of the people of Oyo State.

He added that he had consistently carried the governor along in his official engagements, maintaining a cordial working relationship focused on delivering democratic dividends to residents of the state.

On a separate allegation linking his visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, to political scheming, the Speaker clarified that the visit was purely consultative and not connected to any impeachment plot.

According to him, the meeting with the monarch took place weeks earlier and was in line with tradition, as he formally informed the revered ruler of his governorship ambition and sought his blessings.

He urged the public to disregard what he described as baseless insinuations, warning that such narratives were designed to cause unnecessary tension and division within the state’s political space.
