Akinwumi Adesina, AfDB president loses father

Roland Adesina, the father of Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank, has passed away.

The minister of Agriculture and Rural Development under the Jonathan administration made the announcement on Twitter.

He posted a photo showing him and his late father.

Adesina wrote: My darling father and best friend, Roland F. Adesina, passed away yesterday morning. I wouldn’t have been who I am today without your love and sacrifice.

“Thanks for sending me to school and being a role model. Rest in peace my very dear senior Ombros!”

Adesina won the 2017 World Food Prize Laureate.

He was presented the $250,000 prize and Laureate sculpture at a ceremony at the Iowa State Capitol, United States.
